On June 13, the only Friday the 13th in 2025, Universal Studios announced that Jason Voorhees will return for this year's Halloween Horror Nights. Rumors about the iconic villain from the Friday the 13th franchise being featured at the event had been circulating for some weeks, and Universal confirmed them at the perfect time.

The franchise has been featured in multiple Halloween Horror Nights since the 1990s, not only in the US, but also in Universal Studios Japan. However, it's been a while since Jason was last included at the event; the last time was at 2017's Titans of Terror Tram: Hosted by Chucky, with Jason, Freddy Krueger, Leatherface, and, of course, Chucky. This year, the iconic villain will be featured at both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood.

Rumor: A New Friday the 13th Game Could Be in the Works

Recent evidence ignites rumors that a brand-new video game based on the Friday the 13th horror franchise may be in the works.

According to a press release, there will be a brand-new haunted house based on the Jason Universe. Guests will enter the summer camp where Jason was born, where they must run from multiple Jasons before it's too late. This will surely make fans even more excited for Crystal Lake, which should also drop more information soon. Horror Inc. Assures that the experience will be immersive and cinematic, a tribute to one of the most memorable horror movie characters; they strive to deliver a fun and unforgettable experience that old and new fans will enjoy.

For 45 years, Jason Voorhees has terrified and thrilled audiences globally. With Jason Universe at Universal's Halloween Horror Nights, we’re celebrating that legacy in an immersive way that honors the character's brutal mythology while giving fans the chance to experience it like never before. It’s a visceral homecoming for one of horror’s most enduring icons.

Attractions at Halloween Horror Nights 2025

At Universal Orlando, there will be 10 haunted houses, scare zones, live presentations, and more. It's not clear whether Universal Studios Hollywood will feature the same number of attractions for Halloween Horror Nights. Universal is still making announcements for the event but has already confirmed that Fallout and Five Nights at Freddy's will be included this year for the first time at both parks. Fallout will inspire a thematic haunted house, and Five Nights at Freddy's will be featured "in a whole new way," with more information to be revealed in the future.

Fans and guests can already buy limited-edition merch, including Jason-themed merch, at the parks and also on Universal Orlando's online shop. More collaborations and exclusive merch should be announced in the next few weeks. Only two haunted houses have been announced so far, so there's a lot more to come. Halloween Horror Nights will take place on select nights from August 29 to November 2 at Universal Orlando Resort and from September 4 to November 2 at Universal Studios Hollywood. Tickets are now on sale on the official website.
