Players who reach the lowest levels of the Underworld in Hades 2 will find a surprise waiting for them behind a very specific gate. Melinoë will encounter many powerful gods on her journey to dispatch Chronos, but if she is lucky, she will encounter the God of the Underworld himself, Hades.

Fighting enemies and Aspect Of Artemis in Hades 2
Hades 2: Best Weapon Aspects, Ranked

Weapon Aspects in Hades 2 allow players to change up their playstyle with their favorite weapons. These are the best enhancements in the game.

Unlike the all-powerful run-ender players knew Hades to be in the original, in Hades 2 he is a shell of his former self. Held in Sisyphus and Bouldy's old chamber, Hades can no longer rely on his immense power. Instead, he brings the fight to Chronos by offering his daughter Melinoë a fraction of the powers he once wielded. Hades' best boons are extremely powerful. And though they come late in a run, their real usefulness comes in the final confrontation against Chronos. Because every boon he offers can be helpful, this list will rank them all.

Hades 2 is currently in Early Access. This means that nearly everything in the game is subject to change before the official 1.0 release. Should anything related to Hades boons be altered in any way, this list will be updated to reflect those changes.

6 Unseen Ire

H2-Unseen-Ire
  • Unseen Ire

    • After you take damage, go Dark for 10 seconds. Recharges in 40 seconds.
    • Damage while Dark: +100%
  • Unseen Ire is a very cool boon, especially since it is a callback to one of Hades' most-used powers in the original Hades. Unfortunately, the power to go invisible does not do much good against Chronos, or Tartarus as a whole for that matter. As soon as Melinoë does damage, her location is revealed. There are far better offensive options, both for the trek through Tartarus, and the final battle.
  • Some players may find utility in this boon, especially if they have a build that focuses on single, high-damage hits. The 100% boost to damage while Dark could be useful for a Hephaestus build, with Volcanic Strike or Flourish. It may be worth trying, but it should not be your first option here, especially if you are struggling with Chronos.

5 Life Tax

H2-Life-Tax
  • Life Tax

    • Restore Life for 1% of damage you deal, until you reach the limit.
    • Max Total Life Restored: 100
  • Life Tax might be enticing at first, given that it restores a fair amount of lost health. It seems like this would be great to have against Chronos, but in reality, you will probably use it all up before getting out of Tartarus.
  • The only time this boon might be useful is if you are struggling to make it through Tartarus. If the fast-paced chambers are too much for you to handle, then consider using this as an extra reservoir of life. Still, there are better boons from Hades just for making it through the area, so it's better to leave Life Tax unclaimed until you need it to fulfill the prophecy that requires you to collect all of Hades' boons.

4 Old Grudge

H2-Old-Grudge
  • Old Grudge

    • In your confrontation, Chronos takes a burst of damage after 3 seconds.
    • Chronos' life reduced: 20%
  • At first, Old Grudge may seem like the obvious choice for players looking to get a little help against the Titan of Time. Having this incredibly difficult boss' life reduced by 20% is likely to seem like a great way to get an edge. Then you get into the fight, and you realize that Chronos is not the only enemy you are fighting. Not to mention, Chronos is not a single stage fight, so you are only taking 20% off his first life bar. The best boons that Hades offers will last you well into the second half of the fight, which is more important than any short-term damage burst.

3 Last Gasp

H2-Last-Gasp
  • Last Gasp

    • Deal more damage for each spent Death Defiance.
    • Damage per Death Defiance spent: +10%
  • Last Gasp is the first boon that offers real benefits that last throughout the fight. With 10% damage added for every Death Defiance used, Melinoë will have aid against Chronos and his reinforcements. While this is helpful, it still relies on you struggling to actually provide aid. This boon can be helpful to players who know they are going to use multiple Death Defiances against Chronos, but it is still difficult to recommend over the final two boons on the list.

2 Howling Soul

H2-Howling-Soul
  • Howling Soul

    • Your casts launch a projectile dead ahead. The binding circle forms where it hits.
    • Projectile Damage: 200
  • Howling Soul is the most well-rounded boon for taking on Tartarus as a whole. This boon provides an extremely effective blast that is added to your cast, making it as powerful as many Omega Casts, yet it has no Magick cost. It will help clear the crowds in Tartarus, and it will help deal with the reinforcements that Chronos calls in during his encounter. Players struggling to get through Tartarus will find Howling Soul to be an effective weapon, and it will work as a secondary attack against Chronos as well.

By

1 Deep Dissent

H2-Deep-Dissent
  • Deep Dissent

    • In your confrontation, Chronos summons fewer reinforcements.
    • Chronos foes summoned: 50%
  • Players may be reluctant to select Deep Dissent at first, likely because its simple description does not get across just how incredibly powerful it is against Chronos. Playing through a confrontation without Deep Dissent after using it feels like someone turned on 'Very, Very Hard' mode. It may not be obvious at first, but the reinforcements Chronos uses can often be the main cause of a player's defeat. In writing this guide, Melinoë was taken out by subordinates far more often than Chronos. It may be hard to believe, but the sheer fact that all other boons force you to fight every reinforcement easily makes Deep Dissent Hades' best boon in Hades 2.
