With the Olympic update for Hades 2' s Early Access come two new Gods who also featured in the first game: Athena and Dionysus. Though he wasn't the most overpowered God in Hades, now that he's a Friendly NPC you can encounter up in Olympus, his Boons are much more powerful and versatile than before.
Hades 2: Best Arcana Cards, Ranked
There are 25 Arcana Cards in Hades 2, each of which can be ranked according to their overall power. This guide showcases which are the best.
In Hades 2, the best Dionysus boons tend to be those that are broadly useful across all builds, or offer an effect that multiple playstyles can take advantage of. Though he only offers a total of six boons (like other Allies you can meet throughout the underworld and the surface), you will find that Dionysus' boons are among the most useful boons in Hades 2.
6 Dancing Queen
One-Time Power Boost Every Ten Seconds
In each Encounter, Grape Juice appears in the area and grants Power when used.
Base Reappearance Time: 10 seconds
The Dancing Queen boon Dionysus offers can be powerful in limited situations. If you are playing with a slow-but-hard-hitting weapon, like the Axe, it can be a pretty decent choice. But for most builds, especially faster Hades 2 weapons, its effect just isn't strong or reliable enough to warrant being selected over the other best Dionysus boons.
When you interact with a Grape Juice, your next attack gains 100 Power. On paper, this is really strong, but it can spawn around the room (making it hard to reach in large boss arenas), and may sometimes spawn in unreachable areas, like areas covered with Fire or on top of traps.
5 Tipsy Shot
Great Burst Damage & Controllable Casts
Hold Cast to lob a large explosion. The binding circle forms there.
Base Cast Explosion Damage: 300
Tipsy Shot is one of the better Dionysus boons you can get in Hades 2 thanks to its large damage and the fact that it lets you control where your Cast ends up. After you aim your Cast, it will deal a default 300 Explosion Damage and form a Binding Circle.
This works for every Cast you lob, which can be amazing if you have other strong Cast-boosting Boons and Chaos Effects. But some other Dionysus boon choices are better in broader situations, and if you already have Hestia's cast boon, the ability to control your Casts doesn't add anything to your build.
Hades 2: How To Get To Olympus
To get to Olympus in Hades 2, you must first complete both zones that were available in the Early Access version of the Surface until now.
4 Worry Free
Enormous Max Health Gain, But At A Cost
Gain Max Health, but how much you have becomes a mystery.
Base Max Health Gain: 80
One of Dionysus' best boons is Worry Free, which essentially gives Melinoë a one-time huge Max Health bonus, but hides her total Health from the UI afterward. By taking this boon, you sacrifice having information about your character's current state, but because of the enormous boost, it's not as much of a concern as it otherwise could be.
In most builds and most situations, but the time you reach Olympus, you stop paying as much attention to your Health bar as the combat gets more intense. If you don't have it there as a distraction, it might even end up improving your play as you play more carefully.
3 Happy Haze
Huge Damage Bonus While Standing In Fog
Every 8 Sec. In each Encounter, Festive Fog appears, making you stronger while standgn in it. Enemies are stunned by the Festive Fog.
Base Fog Damage Bonus: 30%
What makes Happy Haze one of the best Dionysus boons in Hades 2 is the fact that its Damage bonus affects all of your outgoing damage. While Tipsy Shot increases your Cast damage, and Dancing Queen increases damage once each time, Happy Haze is a character-wide Damage bonus while you stand in the Fog clouds.
Because you have to stand in Fog clouds to get this huge default 30% bonus, though, this Boon should only be selected if you have strong Ranged capabilities. Don't pick this up in a build that primarily deals Melee damage, as you will have to chase down each Festive Fog location to get the buff, and it could be located in dangerous area like Traps or an enemy attack zone.
2 Drunken Stupor
Omega Moves Inflict Hangover For Damage Over Time
Your Omega Moves inflict Hangover the first time they strike foes.
Base Hangover Damage: 50, every 0.5 sec for 4 sec (400 damage)
The Hangover effect returns in Hades 2 in the Drunken Stupor boon. This is one of the best Dionysus boon choices because of the sheer amount of damage it can inflict over and over again – though it's not nearly as strong in builds that aren't built around Omega abilities.
In builds that rely on Omega abilities, like the Aspect of Pan or the Black Coat with lots of Special upgrades, this single Boon lets you inflict up to 400 Damage over 4 seconds on the first enemy you hit with every Omega attack. This ability melts bosses and Guardians alike, and should be your first choice if you even dabble in Omega abilities as part of your build.
But if you don't use any Magick, or at least don't rely on Omega moves, this boon isn't going to offer as much of a power increase.
1 Bounce Back
Minimum 50% Health Restoration After Every Encounter
After each Encounter, restore some Health if you took any damage in that Encounter.
Base Health Restoration: 50% of Life lost
No matter your situation, no matter your build, the ability to restore Health is a really strong skill to have in any Hades 2 run. Bounce Back is one of the best ways to restore Health in Hades 2, let alone one of the best Dionysus boons in Hades 2, because it essentially reduces all damage from room to room by a minimum 50%.
This is because it restores 50% of your Life Lost after any Encounter (as long as you survive, of course). For example, you can go from 200 Health to 1, but if you survive the encounter, you will go all the way back up to 100. It doesn't reduce damage in the moment, and it won't restore Life for any Shields lost, but it's hard to not take such a strong way to regenerate lost Life over other, more situational boons.
