Summary
- Characters in Hades 2 offer powerful boons, both old and new, to aid in the fight against Chronos.
- Demeter's boons in Hades 2 focus on winter and freezing powers, feeling fresh with new game mechanics.
- Players should consider the usefulness of each Demeter boon carefully, as some may be more beneficial than others.
As players make their way through the world of Hades 2, they will notice a collection of both old and new characters. Many of these characters offer Melinoë powerful boons that are designed to help in the fight against Chronos. While it is obvious that the new characters will add new boons to the game, many will wonder if the returning cast will offer the same upgrades, or feature new boons of their own?
Hades 2: All Wretched Broker Items
The Wretched Broker is one of the NPCs in Hades 2 that you can purchase items from, and its full stock will need to be unlocked.
Demeter is a returning goddess in Hades 2. As the Goddess of Seasons, the lore states that she has control over a wide range of possible powers. However, as she did in Hades, Demeter focuses on providing boons that center on winter, specifically ice and freezing. Like the game itself, there is essentially nothing that returns exactly the same. Instead, Hades 2's new mechanics allow for the boons to feel both familiar and remarkably fresh. This list will explore the best boons Demeter has to offer, ranking them from least to most useful.
Hades 2 is still in Early Access, so there is always the possibility that major changes could come before the official 1.0 release. If any major changes occur to Demeter's boon, this list will be updated accordingly.
13 Local Climate
Description |
Effects |
|---|---|
- While some players may find a use for this boon, the fact that the Ω Cast follows you makes it far less useful than having the ability to seperate yourself from the enemies you ensnare. The added 20% bonus to damage does not make up for this hindrance.
12 Winter Coat
Description |
Effects |
|---|---|
- There are times when Winter Coat will be more useful, particularly late in a run when your Max Magick is high enough to deal with the cost of priming. The reward is not worth taking this over a better boon early in a run.
11 Cold Storage
Description |
Effects |
|---|---|
- Freeze is incredibly powerful, but the action in Hades 2 moves so quickly that having an extra 2 seconds of it is not worth missing out on a better boon. With that said, players struggling to handle mobs or multiple heavy enemies may want to consider using a higher rarity Cold Storage - if they come across one, that is – especially early in the game. The best time to consider using this boon is in conjunction with Ice Flourish.
10 Coarse Grit
Description |
Effects |
|---|---|
- This boon can be incredibly powerful for players using a full Earth Boon build. However, the 6 boon requirement forces you to select boons you may not otherwise just to get Coarse Grit activated. Under specific circumstances, some players may swear by boons like this, but for a versatile build, it can be skipped.
9 Weed Killer
Description |
Effects |
|---|---|
- Unless you have a build that is focused on Ω Casts, this boon can generally be skipped. However, an extra 10 Magick is not too bad for the power you receive. Late in a run, this boon can come in far handier than many of the previously mentioned boons. If it comes to a choice between Weed Killer and them, this is the better pick.
8 Rare Crop
Description |
Effects |
|---|---|
- The only one of Demeter's boons that is the exact same as it is in Hades, Rare Crop's usefulness is extremely dependent on the circumstances in which it is found. This boon has the potential to take multiple boons and upgrade them to their rarest form, which can be incredibly powerful. But finding this boon near the end of a run, or when you only have one mediocre boon, makes it virtually useless. The boons it upgrades are also picked at random. When you have common versions of your favorite boons, that is the time to take Rare Crop.
7 Frigid Sprint
Description |
Effects |
|---|---|
- Frigid Sprint creates a cyclone behind Melinoë as she sprints around the battlefield. While it can be useful in some situations, it is probably the least useful combat boon from Demeter. Gale Force is a far better option, as enemies will be ensnared when they have to deal with the cyclone.
Hades 2: How To Save
If you don't want to lose your progress in Hades 2, you should definitely learn how to save. Here's all you need to know.
6 Tranquil Gain
Description |
Effects |
|---|---|
- Tranquil Gain rapidly restores Magick while Melinoë is inactive. It starts immediately after she stops moving, and can be done in short bursts if the battlefield is crowded. For players who use Magick builds, a boon of this nature can be extremely useful. Later, there are Arcana that can either replace or negate the need for this boon entirely, but early in the game, this boon can be a huge help.
5 Plentiful Forage
Description |
Effects |
|---|---|
- For some players, a boon that adds max life every time you pick up a certain item type might be the best boon they can imagine. Indeed, Plentiful Forage can sometimes negate the need to go after multiple Centaur Hearts. However, given that it relies on what amounts to luck, players should be cautious when thinking of taking this over a boon that enhances combat. This makes a good second boon from Demeter. You want to get it as early as possible, as plants and seeds show up early. If you are planning on making a build around Demeter and Plentiful Forage, make sure to bring the SIlver Spade.
4 Gale Force
Description |
Effects |
|---|---|
- Gale Force is one of two awesome boons from Demeter that can turn a basic cast and Ω Cast into a frigid nightmare for your enemies. This boon adds a cyclone to the center of the cast circle, which inflicts damage over time while enemies are ensnared. On its own, this boon is great, but is even better when working in conjunction with Arctic Ring.
