In the original Hades, players would run into special characters that would offer special boons that were different from those offered by the Olympians. Hades 2 brings this mechanic back, but greatly increases the number of these encounters for Melinoë to find. One of the most powerful of these characters, Medea, is found on the surface, in the City of Ephyra.
Hades 2: All Patch Notes
Here's a handy guide on all the patch notes and updates so far for Hades 2 Early Access.
Medea's boons are called Nightly Curses. The complete list offered to Melinoë is incredibly powerful, with essentially none worthy of not being considered at all. However, given the fact that Medea is encountered early in a surface run, there are several that seem to offer more help against the highest number of enemies. This list will include all 7 of Medea's Nightly Curses, with the most useful in the number one slot.
Hades 2 is currently in Early Access. This means that many aspects of the game are subject to changes before the official 1.0 release. If any of Medea's Curses are altered, or if any new Curses are introduced, this list will be updated accordingly.
7 Enfeeblement of Cowards
-
Enfeeblement of Cowards
-
- Foes ranged shots have -40% travel speed.
- Enfeeblement of Cowards is actually an incredibly powerful boon. However, there are other ways to slow foes' ranged attacks. This is a great example of the fact that every Nightly Curse offered by Medea offers an extremely useful upgrade. But the fact remains, other curses offer help that cannot be found any other way. Because of that, this boon earns its spot on the list.
6 Wealth from the Dead
-
Wealth from the Dead
-
- After a foe is slain, it has a 10% chance to drop 20 gold.
- It can only happen twice per encounter.
- The surface level already allows Melinoë to gather a decent amount of gold without using any boon. So, unless you consistently find yourself missing out on Charon's goods and Hermes' shrine, then this boon is worth passing over. Keep in mind that the most this boon offers is 40 extra gold per encounter. While this can add up, it is not worth passing up another Night Curse.
Hades 2: How to Get Driftwood
If you want to unlock several awesome incantations in Hades 2, you should learn where to find and how to use Driftwood. Here's all you need to know.
5 Traces of Spirit
-
Traces of Spirit
-
- After each encounter, gain +10 Max Magick.
- Traces of Spirit has very specific circumstances under which it might be a good option. If you are using a boon that Primes a large amount of your Max Magick, or if you are relying on an Omega move as your primary attack, then Traces of Spirit may be a good option. If you meet with Medea early in your surface run, you could feasibly gain 200 or more Max Magick by the time you reach Eris. If Max Magick is important to your run, or if you are not using The Unseen Arcana, then this boon may be right for you.
4 Life from the Dead
-
Life from the Dead
-
- After a foe is Slain, it has a 5% chance to drop +10 life (healing, not Max Life).
-
- Life from the Dead can be a real lifesaver for those that struggle to make it to Eris with any life remaining. Given how rare healing items can sometimes feel, it is understandable why many players might be drawn to a boon that offers the chance of finding health items after every kill for the remainder of the run. With only a 5% chance, players may only get one or two items during each encounter, but it can make the difference when you have been reaching Eris with no Death Defiances remaining.
3 Malice in Kind
-
Malice in Kind
-
- Whenever a foe makes you use a Death Defiance, it loses 15% life.
- Malice in Kind has the potential to be the best of Medea's Nightly Curses for those players that struggle against Eris, but have no problem before. If you enter the fight with three Death Defiances, it's possible that 45% of her health could be erased simply because she killed Melinoë three times.
- However, if players struggle to reach Eris, then there are other Curses that can be more helpful. If a simple enemy loses 15% of their life just because they happen to be the one to trigger a Death Defiance, then it will likely feel as though this curse was a waste.
2 Suffering on Sight
-
Suffering on Sight
-
- After a foe joins the Encounter, it takes from 1 to 999 damage.
- On paper, this should be Medea's best curse. However, while every single enemy you encounter takes damage, many will take a very small amount. Still, this boon remains incredibly powerful, even if only half of the enemies you encounter take significant damage. Several enemies will usually be killed outright the moment they enter the fight. Suffering on Sight should be experimented with by every player, and make the decision for yourself whether it is better than Corrosion on Sight.
Hades 2: Every Character Based On A Greek God
Hades 2 feature more Greek gods granting boons and buffs, and while not all of them are based solely on ancient myth, the vast majority are.
1 Corrosion on Sight
-
Corrosion on Sight
-
- After a for joins the Encounter, it loses 50% of any armor it has.
- Armored enemies are the absolute worst. Corrosion on Sight removes half of all armor from every armored foe. It does not matter what type of enemy it is, half will be removed. Because chance is taken out of the equation, Corrosion on Sight earns the top slot.
- This Curse is especially helpful in the Rift of Thessaly because of how small each encounter's arena is. They generally take place on the top of each ship, and it is incredibly easy to get swarmed by the armored foes. This Curse allows Melinoë to deal with these crowds much faster.
