You Can’t Have Her

Gundam Mercury E24 Calibarn Helping Aerial

In episode 23, Ericht and Aerial protect the Quiet Zero and everybody around it, including Suletta and friends, from the blast of the secret long-range Interplanetary Super Laser cannon. They manage to defend against this brutal attack, but as a result, Aerial sustains heavy damage, while Ericht is nowhere to be found.

In an effort to save her sister, Suletta quickly uses her Gundam Calibarn to bring Aerial’s wreckage back to Quiet Zero. In her mind, along with everybody else present, even if they can save Aerial, they might be able to save Eri by using the data storm enhancing capabilities of the Quiet Zero. Needless to say, Prospera is overjoyed by Suletta’s decision. She asks Suletta to immediately connect Ericht to the Quiet Zero main system, in order to bring her back. Much to everyone's surprise, Suletta says no. For the first time in her life, Suletta refuses her mother’s wish.

Not only that, she decided to bring Aerial’s remains, which contains Ericht’s consciousness, outside Quiet Zero. The reason why Suletta do that is because she doesn’t want Ericht to live in a world that is created due to an act of genocide, which is pretty much what Prospera has in mind. That being said, she still wants to live together with her sister and her mother. So Suletta forces herself to dive deeper into the data storm and raises her permet score. Lo and behold, she manages to reawaken her sister, along with Aerial.

Dissolving The Benerit Group

Gundam Mercury E24 Miorine Sudden Announcement

Once Suletta manage to fully assimilate herself with the data storm, she gain access to control the other Gundam present around the Quiet Zero, including Elan’s Gundam Pharact, Lauda’s Gundam Schwarzette , her own Gundam Calibarn, and Ericht’s Gundam Aerial. With Eri’s help, Suletta manages to assimilate herself with the other Gundam, and amplify their unique data storm across the universe.

In doing so, Suletta not only managed to take over the other aircrafts and mobile suits in their vicinity, but she also successfully overrides the control system of the Interplanetary Super Laser cannon that plans to shoot them down.

Knowing Suletta has gained access to almost every piece of communication in the universe, including those on Earth, Miorine decided to give a big announcement. Out of the blue, Miorine announced that as the elected president of the Benerit Group, she decided to dissolve this long-standing conglomerate group, and sell most of its assets.

Not only that, the group will take responsibility for all of the suffering caused by their activities on Earth by giving the money earned by selling those assets back to the people of the Earth. Needless to say, this sudden decision shocked a lot of people on Earth, on the side of the government and the Space Assembly league, and most importantly, the people within the Benerit Group itself. Nobody ever thought that Miorine would do something like that, which is precisely why her action is so impactful.

Ericht, The A.I. Chatbot

Gundam Mercury E24 The Four Gundam

By combining the power of four Gundam and amplifying those massive powers to the entire universe, the GUND format within those Gundams, and also in the Quiet Zero for that matter, are working beyond their intended capacity. As a result of such an unbearable burden, every piece of GUND format technology within the vicinity is disintegrating into nothingness. In a matter of minutes, those bleeding edge mobile suits, and Quiet Zero itself, turns into space dust particles.

Needless to say, Aerial and Calibarn are also experiencing the same devastating effect. In her last moment of clarity, however, Suletta uses every single power left in Gundam Calibarn to extract Ericht’s consciousness out of the disintegrating Aerial. Though it seems to be an unconscious attempt, Suletta manages to pull it off. She successfully transfers Ericht into the only piece of tech available near her, which is the keychain that she shares with Miorine.

Later in the episode, it is revealed that Ericht lives on within that small contraption, and can expand her consciousness through a certain kind of gadget. Using this gadget, Ericht can easily converse with Miorine. She even gives her advice on different matters. So Ericht goes from controlling the most advanced mobile suit in the universe, to become something akin to an A.I. Chat bot.

In a way, her role has become quite similar to Jarvis or Friday from the Iron Man movies. Nobody knows how it happened, and everybody is certainly surprised that such a thing can even happen in the first place. But one thing for sure, everybody is happy because Ericht is still there with them. So as you can see, even in its last chapter, Gundam: The Witch from Mercury still manages to surprise us. This series is the embodiment of the phrase “Never let them know your next move.”
