A streamer has completed an incredible feat, beating every song in Guitar Hero 2 consecutively without missing a note. The impressive accomplishment is thought to be the first in the Guitar Hero 2 community, and has drawn considerable attention for the hard work that went into it.

Guitar Hero is a music rhythm game series that has largely been forgotten by modern gamers, but at one time, it took the gaming world by storm. Even before its spiritual successor Rock Band came along, gamers were flocking to consoles and arcade machines to pick up plastic guitars and play through their favorite tunes. Plenty of gamers have completed incredible flawless runs of songs, but this takes it to the next level.

Gamer and streamer Acai28 has shared that they've completed a "Permadeath" run of Guitar Hero 2, successfully nailing every single note of every song available, for a total of 74 tunes completed in the game. This is believed to be a Guitar Hero world's first, making the accomplishment all the more impressive. Acai played the original game on Xbox 360, which is notorious for demanding accuracy of its players. The game was modded to add Permadeath Mode, which considers any note missed a total loss and actually deletes the save, forcing players to completely start over. The only other modification made to the title was to remove the strum limit in order to perfect the notorious Trogdor.

Gamers Celebrate Incredible Guitar Hero 2 Feat

All across social media, players are congratulating Acai for their accomplishment. Many have pointed out that while fan games like Clone Hero have taken off over the years, the original Guitar Hero games require much more precisely timed inputs, making it more impressive that this was pulled off in the original game. Others seem to have been inspired by Acai, voicing that they're considering dusting off their old controllers and giving the game a run after all these years.

While the Guitar Hero series is long gone, the formula behind it has seen something of a resurgence recently courtesy of Fortnite. Epic Games made the surprise move to acquire Harmonix, the original developer of Guitar Hero and Rock Band, and introduced Fortnite Festival, which has strong similarities to the titles. Players who never got a chance to try out these classic games have been enjoying Fortnite Festival, and it may have helped to stir an interest in revisiting the original titles that started it all. It will be interesting to see how this challenge impacts fans of the genre, as more players may attempt their own Permadeath runs of the Guitar Hero series.
