Grand Theft Auto: V, or simply GTA 5, is truly a masterpiece. The game is absolutely splendid, and players don't have access to not one but three different characters. By switching characters, players will be able to progress through the story and enjoy different hobbies. Playing with these characters also allows players to experience the plot from multiple perspectives. In GTA 5, players can select between Franklin, Trevor, and Michael.

The process of switching to any of the characters is rather simple, but players won't have access to all of them immediately. They will have to progress through the story to a certain extent to unlock the other characters. However, it doesn't take long to do so.

How To Switch Characters In GTA 5

Players can switch their characters on consoles by following these steps:

Press and hold the Down button on the D-Pad until the character switch pop-up appears.
Then use the right analog stick to select the desired character.
Leave the Down button, and the character should be switched successfully.

Players can also switch characters quickly by tapping the Down button twice.

The process of changing characters on a PC is not complicated either. Here is how players can switch between the protagonists while they are on a PC:

Press and hold the Alt Key while in free roam mode.
Next, use the Arrow Keys or the mouse to select the character.
When the character is still highlighted, release the Alt Key. This will successfully change characters while playing on PC.

Whenever players switch to another character, they might find the individual engaging in some kind of activity. Out of the three protagonists, Trevor's switches are the most interesting.

In some cases, players won't be able to switch their characters. This could be because a mission requires using a specific character to complete it. So, players will have to stick with the character at hand.

Sometimes, players will not be able to change their character because they are too close to the starting point of a mission. Hence, the regular method of switching characters will not bring up the wheel; instead, the radio station screen will pop up. To solve this issue, just drive away from the starting position.
