One unlucky Grand Theft Auto Online player just discovered that installing a fancy vehicle mod might not always be the best idea. Ever since it was first released as an online component to the critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto 5 in 2013, Grand Theft Auto Online has been a virtual playground for fans to enjoy the free-roaming mayhem of Rockstar’s legendary open-world franchise with friends. From fast-paced street races to death-defying stunts, there seems to be no limit to the ways that players can gain fame and fortune on the mean streets of Los Santos.

Part of GTA Online's appeal is how players can customize their in-game avatars and vehicles to look their best while on the road. Aspiring criminals can change their ride’s paint scheme, create custom license plates, and even add armor or weapons to help when a heist attempt goes south. However, not all Grand Theft Auto Online vehicle customization options are as helpful as they are appealing to look at, and some might be more trouble than they’re worth in a given situation.

Such was the case with Reddit user One-Mycologist-6001, who recently shared an unfortunate-yet-hilarious mishap involving their custom Pounder truck in Grand Theft Auto Online. They had just installed a SAM Remote Missile Battery to the hood of their rig, but this massive turret proves to be an issue when they try to drive across a bridge during a GTA Online mission. The Battery keeps getting stuck on the railings above the bridge, and while One-Mycologist-6001 eventually does manage to squeeze its way to the subway tunnel on the other side, it takes a fair amount of valuable time to do so.

This funny instance of vehicle customization gone wrong is just the latest in a series of Grand Theft Auto Online clips making the rounds on the internet. From eagle-eyed players taking down fighter planes with a single well-placed shot to fleeing suspects getting stuck in their cars mere moments after eluding the cops, GTA Online is filled with moments that prove it can be just as fun to watch as it is to play firsthand.

While Grand Theft Auto Online gives its players a massive amount of freedom to create their own chaos in Los Santos, sometimes it’s better to think twice before customizing a GTA Online vehicle. This rings true in the case of the Pounder Custom’s SAM Battery, which might be good for taking down enemies but can be a problem when trying to get through a tight space in a timely manner.

Grand Theft Auto Online is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
