GTA Online offers five Salvage Yard Heists, one being The McTony Robbery. These are made available on a rotational basis, and each one offers a different background story every time. They can be started via the Salvage Yard, where you can also engage in Tow Truck Service Missions if you need a break.
Rockstar Games’ title has various heists on offer that you can do solo or with friends, and these five are relatively fun and financially viable. The McTony Robbery, specifically, offers some ocean shenanigans that are tough to find otherwise. Let’s take a look at the breakdown.
How to Complete GTA Online: Salvage Yard Heist - The McTony Robbery
The first time you start The McTony Robbery in GTA Online, the story will be the same. Your job is to work with Jamal and steal a car for his brother, Yusuf Amir. The target chosen is billionaire Tony McTony, who Jamal hates for copying his lifestyle. He tells you about a prized car that McTony keeps safe on his submarine and asks for your help in stealing it to one-up the latter.

There are seven overall missions that you need to complete before you can get to this Salvage Yard Heist’s finale in GTA Online. Among these, the very first, Scope Out, needs to be done only once. Further, one mission each in Planning Work and Task is optional. Here’s a walkthrough for all of them.
The McTony Robbery Scope Out
If you're doing The McTony Robbery for the first time, you'll have to complete the Scope Out mission before the entire plan is laid out before you. Usually, such missions are run-of-the-mill, but you'll face some resistance in this iteration.
After you register as a CEO and select the target car for said Salvage Yard Heist in GTA Online, Jamal will send you off to the docks to scope out the submarine. The vessel will be guarded by several guards on the dock, so you’ll have a shootout on your hands once you’re in the vicinity. If you have a bulletproof car with mounted weapons, you can stroll right in and kill all of them without any worry.

The McTony Robbery Planning Work #1 - Tony’s Submersible (Mandatory)
This is a rather simple job, especially when you consider other Salvage Yard Heists in GTA Online. The aim is this: steal Tony’s submersible. You will need it to make an uncontested approach to the billionaire’s submarine in The McTony Robbery’s finale.
Trigger the mission from the Planning Wall and head out to Elysian Island. If you have a small but agile attack helicopter, like the CEO Buzzard, you can fly out and kill all the enemies from a safe range. Then, make your way up the tower and release the submersible into the water. All that is left is to sail it out to the marker and have a staff member store it for the finale.
The McTony Robbery Planning Work #2 - Sonar Equipment (Mandatory)
This Salvage Yard Heist mission is fairly difficult, and the above-mentioned helicopter/Oppressor Mk II trick will come in quite handy. You can even choose a bulletproof vehicle with mounted weapons, but you will be on the road for a long time if you do so.
Once you reach the marked location, take out the horde of enemies present outside the building and head inside. Eliminate everyone and check the big crates for the sonar equipment; make sure that you take a pause between opening crates as fresh enemies will spawn around you, and they will kill you in an instant if you’re not careful.
When you find the equipment, simply head outside to your vehicle and hightail it back to the Salvage Yard to make the delivery.
The McTony Robbery Planning Work #3 - Disrupt Weapons (Optional)
For this Salvage Yard Heist mission in GTA Online, it is absolutely imperative to take to the skies. There is a 10-minute timer, and you need to eliminate four separate weapon shipments to be fully successful. The targets are spread far apart, and the very first one itself will take you across the map. Even if you have the fastest car in GTA 5, you may not get more than two targets. It is thus advised that you use an Oppressor Mk II or another agile aircraft to get the job done.
The aim is to reduce the heavy weapons available to the enemies in The McTony Robbery’s finale and make things easier for yourself. Once the mission starts from the Planning Wall, immediately head out to the first spot. Kill all the enemies outside and go in to eliminate the rest. Blow up the first weapon shipment with a grenade launcher or another explosive and use the laptop to get details on the other locations.
All that is left to do in this Salvage Yard Heist mission is to get into your aircraft and take out all the armored cars with weapon shipments marked on the map. Use homing missiles on them from a safe distance, and avoid the choppers that come in against you. The mission will be marked done no matter how many shipments you destroy or die beforehand. So you’ve got only one shot at making things easier for yourself in The McTony Robbery’s finale.
The McTony Robbery Task #1 - Cutting Torch (Mandatory)
When you infiltrate McTony’s submarine in this Salvage Yard Heist’s finale in GTA Online, there will be closed doors that you can only get through after using a cutting torch. That’s where this task comes in.

Players who find themselves bored in GTA Online should try the following cool activities to spice things up.
Go to the green Robbery Task icon on the map and call Jamal. Post the conversation, search the nearby site for the cutting torch. A couple of workers will turn hostile towards you once you steal the item, but there’s nothing to worry about. Simply make your way back to the Salvage Yard, and the job will be done.
The McTony Robbery Task #2 - Security Outfits (Mandatory)
This task can be a bit annoying and very time-consuming, but you can make it slightly less tedious if you use an Oppressor Mk II in GTA Online. The aim is to get a set of security outfits so that you can make an uncontested approach to McTony’s submarine in this Salvage Yard Heist’s finale.
The green Robbery Task icon will be on the northern outskirts of the map, so you will be on a long journey if your base is more downtown. Head to the location and speak with Jamal. Now all you need to do is search the target area for the outfits' duffel bag. If you take your time, a cadre of enemies will come and start shooting at you. So, hurry up, get the bag, and head back to the Salvage Yard to make the delivery.
The McTony Robbery Task #3 - Masks (Optional)
This task is the same across all Salvage Yard Heists in GTA Online. All you have to do is head to Vespucci Masks and grab a free accessory for yourself. Although it’s intended to reduce the resistance you face after you steal the target car in The McTony Robbery’s fine, it isn’t important by any means as it doesn’t make a noticeable difference.

GTA Online: Salvage Yard Heist - The McTony Robbery Finale
You can start this Salvage Yard Heist’s finale once you’ve completed all the mandatory missions that are on the Planning Wall. There are three parts - Use the submersible to get to the Kosatka submarine, infiltrate the vessel and crash it on the shore, and take the car to the Salvage Yard.
Before you get started, ensure your inventory is full of snacks, armor, and the strongest firearms available. Remember to skip any expensive but useless weapons in this GTA Online mission, as they will only hamper your progress.

There's no need to waste cash on the fastest GTA Online vehicles when they can just as easily be stolen for a joyous ride across Los Santos.
Once everything is in place, start The McTony Robbery finale from the Salvage Yard Heist Planning Wall. Head out to the marked location where your staff has the submersible ready, and go towards the Kosatka's approximate location. At that time, start up the sonar and home in towards the vessel’s icon on your map. It will be at a great depth, so go deep and then approach its entrance from the underside.
Once you’re in, kill the two guards and use the cutting torch to get through the locked doors. Kill the enemies inside and destroy the four computer stations that control the Kosatka submarine’s systems in GTA Online.
Now head back towards the submersible you used earlier and towards the opposite locked door. Jamal will send you a picture of the Captain who you need to kill to get the vessel’s control codes. Use the cutting torch and make your way through the lower levels for the target NPC; search the upper levels if he’s not on this one.
After you kill the Captain, head towards the control center and kill the enemies there. Insert the codes, take control of the submarine, and crash it on the shore. Now, go to the landing pad, activate it, and get the car outside.
All that’s left in The McTony Robbery is to lose the cops and take the target vehicle to the Salvage Yard. To make things easier, head uphill opposite the shore to find train tracks and go right to the railway tunnel. If you stay in here for a couple of minutes, the 4-star Wanted Level will resolve itself, and you’ll be free to make your way back in peace.
The Salvage Yard Heist will be “complete” once you make the delivery. However, to get the full amount of cash, you have to either salvage the vehicle or deliver it to Yusuf at the Terminal. It may not be one of the best cars to sell in GTA Online, but doing so gets you the most money. As such, it’s advised that you make the delivery and get the higher payout.
