Asymmetrical game modes can be tricky to balance and play without things feeling too unfair, so this can be a difficult mode to get the hang of. Here's how to play the Double Down adversary mode and earn some big bucks in Grand Theft Auto Online.
How To Start A Double Down Game In GTA Online
To play a Double Down game, you'll need to find the playlist in your in-game menu. Bring up your menu, navigate to the Online tab, select Jobs, then look into the Rockstar Created playlist where you'll find Adversary Modes. From there, you can either start up your own Double Down match, or join someone else's.
There will be seven different Double Down game modes that will take place on different maps:
- Double Down I takes place at the Paleto Forest Sawmill.
- Double Down II takes place on a train with the enemy team pursuing on motorcycles.
- Double Down III takes place at the Altruist Camp atop Chiliad Mountain.
- Double Down IV takes place at the Los Santos Naval Port.
- Double Down V takes place at the Pala Springs Aerial Tramway.
- Double Down VI takes place at Fort Zancudo.
- Double Down VII takes place at Cape Catfish.
How To Play The Double Down Adversary Mode In GTA Online
In a Double Down match, there will be two teams: Attackers and Hold Outs. The Attackers team will consist of up to eight players, while the Hold Outs team will only have two. The team of two will become fan favorite Grand Theft Auto V characters Franklin and Lamar. The goal for the Attackers will be to kill Franklin and Lamar, while the Hold Outs will need to hold off the rival team until the end of a timer to survive the round.
To make things somewhat fair for the team of two, the Attackers will only be armed with only a sawed-off Double Barrel Shotgun. Meanwhile, Franklin and Lamar will have a whole arsenal of powerful weapons and explosives they can use to defend themselves.
However, despite having better guns, it won't be an easy time for Franklin and Lamar. The Hold Outs will have restricted movement, as they can only stay within a certain play area. If they leave that area, they'll be killed. Hold Outs also only have one life each, while the Attackers have unlimited lives.
Strategy For Attackers In Double Down
Despite outnumbering the Hold Outs, it can be difficult for the team of Attackers to take out Franklin and Lamar. The shotguns have limited range, which means that the only way to deal any real damage is to get close to the Hold Outs.
It's a good idea to try to split up rather than stick together. Try to approach the team of two in different groups from different angles and split their attention. There are no healing items, so stick to cover while advancing on the Hold Outs.
Strategy For Hold Outs In Double Down
Being a Hold Out will require you to keep an eye out for Attackers from every angle. The big advantage that Franklin and Lamar have is that they have ranged weapons. As long as enemies don't get close, you're unlikely to take much damage. Hold Outs don't need to take cover as often as the Attackers. It's better to stay moving to make yourself a harder target to hit and give you a better chance to spot the enemy players.
Be sure to watch the mini-map. You'll see the Attackers as red dots, so keep track of their locations and coordinate with your fellow Hold Out to prevent them from getting too close. Don't forget to toss some explosives to scare Attackers off or take them out.
