A fan has compared stills from the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer to the 2002 GTA: Vice City, and the differences are remarkable. The highly-anticipated GTA 6 trailer confirmed a return to Vice City after almost 21 years, and also revealed the game’s protagonists along with a glimpse at its map.

In a post on Reddit, user Enough-Engineering41 compared the images of different locations from GTA: Vice City to the ones in the GTA 6 trailer. Interestingly, popular locations like the Vice Beach, the road with neon-lit hotels, and the cargo ship in the ocean make a comeback in GTA 6, and they are a serious upgrade from the original considering the 20-year difference between the titles. Earlier, another user also compared real-life Miami locations to the GTA 6 trailer, and the resemblance left fans in awe of Rockstar’s attention to detail. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg, as Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 is set in the state of Leonida and that its setting extends beyond Vice City.

With no other information available at the moment, fans have been dissecting the GTA 6 trailer to find any hints regarding its story, protagonists, setting, and more. For instance, one player pointed out that Lucia, one of the protagonists, is wearing an ankle-monitor, which could have an impact on the gameplay since it could restrict movement beyond certain limits. Another fan observed that Lucia’s car seat moves slightly as she shifts her weight in a part of the video, showcasing Rockstar's meticulousness. A player also spotted a possible easter egg in the GTA 6 trailer referencing Lance Vance from the 2002 Vice City.

So far, Rockstar has only confirmed a PS5 and Xbox Series X launch for the game, leading fans to believe that GTA 6 might skip PC at launch. However, it is too early to draw any conclusions considering the game is set for a 2025 release and a lot could change by then.
