Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games unveiled the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 on December 4, 2023, about a few days before The Game Awards that year. Unsurprisingly, the trailer broke records from the moment it was released. Just a single day after its debut, it became the most-viewed video game reveal of all time on YouTube, having amassed over 90 million views. As if that wasn't impressive enough, it also became the most-liked video game trailer ever and the most-viewed non-music video on YouTube in 24 hours. Although Rockstar didn't even show a single hint of Grand Theft Auto 6's gameplay at the time, the mere announcement of the game was enough to set the internet on fire.

Take-Two CEO Reaffirms That GTA 6 is Launching in Fall 2025

It's been known for a while now that Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive plan to launch Grand Theft Auto 6 sometime in 2025, but they've yet to pin down an exact release date for the game. Although some were hoping that GTA 6 would be released early in the year, most gamers were reasonably expecting a late 2025 release for the title. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently affirmed this assumption in an earnings call, when he revealed that Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to release in the fall of 2025.

While this information technically isn’t new, Zelnick’s statement reaffirms that the game is still slated to come out in the aforementioned time frame.

GTA 6 is Only a Year Away from Release, So Rockstar Should Share More Info on the Game Soon

Barring any unexpected delays, Grand Theft Auto 6 is only around 12 months away from being released, but there's still so little known about the game. Not only has Rockstar not shown any gameplay of it yet, but it also hasn't revealed much about its plot. The fact that Rockstar hasn't even confirmed the name of Lucia's enigmatic male partner yet shows just how scarce information about GTA 6 really is.

Since GTA 6's release is fast approaching, it seems likely that Rockstar may release a new trailer for the game in the next few months. Maybe the studio will want to replicate what it did with GTA 6's reveal and drop a second trailer for the game on YouTube in the first or second week of December. If fans are lucky enough, Rockstar may even give them another look at the game as early as this month. The second trailer for the original Grand Theft Auto 5 was released in November 2012, roughly a year before its 2013 launch, so there is precedent for a potential November unveiling.

A GTA 6 Trailer Drop at the Game Awards is Possible

If Rockstar doesn't release a new trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 on a day of its choosing, there's also a possibility that the game will make an appearance at The Game Awards 2024, which will take place on December 12. The chances of this happening aren't zero, and yet the first GTA 6 trailer narrowly dodging The Game Awards may suggest that it shouldn't be anticipated wholly.
