An old Grand Theft Auto 6 leak from all the way back in 2023, which many believed at the time to be completely false, has gained some credence thanks to new information regarding the ongoing dispute between developer Rockstar Games and former employees. After eagle-eyed fans revisited the Grand Theft Auto 6 leak, it became apparent that there are details that have since been proven to be accurate and align with new information in the legal battle between dismissed developers and studio Rockstar Games.
With the wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 now entering its thirteenth year, it's no surprise that there have been tons of leaks, rumors, and fan theories about the next installment in the series. As one of the most anticipated video games of all time, many of these apparent leaks need to be taken with a huge grain of salt. But, with that being said, there have been some pretty significant leaks that were accurate. The most notable was, of course, back in 2022 when Rockstar Games suffered a data breach which saw nearly 100 pieces of early development photos and videos make their way online. The studio acknowledged the leak shortly after, but made fans wait an entire year before it released the very first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6.

This Old GTA 6 Leak May Actually Be Legit
With so many supposed insiders and leakers claiming to have inside knowledge of Grand Theft Auto 6, a lot of these supposed leaks are often thrown on the growing 'probably fake' pile. However, one info dump from 2023 has now re-emerged as fans believe it could actually have some truth to it. After a new article from IGN revealed that a Rockstar Games employee was dismissed in November 2023 for allegedly leaking details about the next Grand Theft Auto game to someone outside of the company. A month before their dismissal, a post appeared on Reddit with a large number of plot details that were apparently from Grand Theft Auto 6. The post in question details how Jason picks Lucia up from prison, a piece of information that has now proven to be accurate, as it was seen in the game's very first trailer just a couple of months later.
But after revisiting the leak, it turns out that there were some pretty major plot points in there, including one that claims Lucia actually has a baby that she abandons at a store. The leaker claims that Lucia leaves her child (the sex and age of which is unknown) at a delicatessen before heading out to rob a bank. However, they note that there will be no children in Grand Theft Auto 6 and that the baby only appears in flashback cutscenes. "After a few years, Lucia gets released on probation, she’s picked up at the prison by Jason, who’s planning a robbery with her, and they’ll fall in love with each other after some time," the leaker says, before going on to also discuss some new gameplay mechanics.
If the leak is correct, which many now believe it to be, it looks like Grand Theft Auto 6 will also feature some Red Dead Redemption 2 mechanics that have now been expanded upon. The post explains that there will be a new mechanic for detecting threats and valuable items around the player, but notes that this will not work in the same way that the special abilities in Grand Theft Auto 5 did. Instead, the leaker says it will be more akin to the dead-eye targeting from Red Dead Redemption 2. "Rockstar has also been focusing on very detailed mechanics of searching places, this one seems to be also inspired by a mechanic from Red Dead Redemption 2," the post says.
This revelation comes right as trusted insider and journalist Jason Schreier, who has a proven track record when it comes to Grand Theft Auto, dropped a new bombshell and claimed that Grand Theft Auto 6 is still not content complete. Although this may sound concerning, Schreier does believe that the current November release date is much more plausible than Fall 2025 or even May 2026. However, the journalist does admit that it's "hard to say" if the game will be ready in time, as not even Rockstar knows with 100% certainty that it will hit its November 19 release date.
