And this is despite the fact that there's only been a single trailer released for GTA 6 so far, with official updates from Rockstar Games otherwise few and far between.
With Rockstar Games nearly radio silent on Grand Theft Auto 6, fans have started coming up with conspiracy theories about when the long-awaited Trailer 2 for the open world crime game will finally drop. So far, all of these theories have proven to be incorrect, with the predicted dates coming and going without a glimpse at GTA 6. The latest GTA 6 Trailer 2 theory seemed to be one of the meatier ones though, with various "hints" seemingly pointing to December 27. Now that December 27 is here and there is no GTA 6 Trailer 2 (yet, anyway), those that got their hopes up are understandably disappointed.
GTA 6 is Already Affecting the 2025 Gaming Landscape, Per New Report
As the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 slowly approaches, some publishers are reportedly fearful of competing with Rockstar's next big game.
Grand Theft Auto fans have been expressing their disappointment on social media, targeting the latest post from Rockstar Games. Instead of releasing GTA 6 Trailer 2, Rockstar Games instead tweeted out a reminder about the Rockstar Store Holiday Sale, which gives fans the chance to pick up Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Grand Theft Auto 4 at a discount. The sale also includes Rockstar Games merch and ends on January 7. The tweet immediately generated thousands of comments full of profanity, heartbreak, and disbelief that it seems like the entirety of 2024 is going to come and go without a new GTA 6 trailer. To help rub salt in the wound, if you add up the numbers in the shop link, they equate to 27.
Rockstar Games December 27 Tweet Isn't What Fans Expected
Now, it's still the morning of December 27 at the time of this writing. There is certainly a chance that GTA 6 Trailer 2 will drop before the day is over, though fans shouldn't hold their breath. Just as it was always best not to get one's hopes up for the GTA 6 Trailer 2 December 27 theory to begin with, it's best to keep one's expectations in check about the game in general.
Still, it's understandable that fans are getting annoyed at the lack of GTA 6 updates. GTA 6 has broken a record for longest time between trailers for a Rockstar Games title, and at this point, there doesn't seem to be an end in sight. If Grand Theft Auto 6's release date is still in fall 2025 at some point, one has to imagine that the marketing campaign will pick up big time next year if the new trailer doesn't come before 2024 is out.
