Gamers got bad news this week, as Rockstar confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 has now been pushed back an entire year. While disappointing, it also gives the developer extra time to make sure Grand Theft Auto 6 is the best game it can possibly be. Now that fans will have to wait a little while longer, the speculation and theories surrounding the game are bound to continue.
One of the most exciting aspects of GTA 6 is that it marks the franchise's long-awaited return to Vice City. Inspired by Miami, Vice City is a sun-drenched, crime-filled land of hedonism. There's no telling just how much more over-the-top Rockstar is going to be able to make GTA 6, but boats and yachts would definitely be a great starting point.
GTA 6's Guns Could Aim for Realism, But The Opposite May Be Best
The ways that Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to expand on its predecessor may extend to making guns more realistic, but this could be a misstep.
GTA 6 Focusing More On Boats and Yachts Can Take Immersion to the Next Level
GTA Online Offered a Taste of Sea-Faring Life
- There are three yachts players can purchase in GTA Online.
- The Galaxy Super Yacht comes in three models: Orion, Pisces, and Aquarius.
- Depending on the model, the Galaxy Super Yacht's price ranges between 6 and 8 million.
- Players can't drive the yacht. A captain has to be hired, and it costs $25,000 to move the yacht's location.
Since GTA Online is all about amassing as much in-game wealth as possible, it only makes sense for yachts to be part of that ecosystem. However, GTA Online merely scratches the surface of what can be done with these yachts. Granted, there are plenty of other awesome water-dwelling vehicles, like the Seashark jet skis and the Ocelot Stromberg. However, if GTA 6 really wants to drive home the larger-than-life wealthy living that is teased in the game's trailer, then expanding on yachts seems like a must.
GTA 6 was originally set to arrive in the fall, but it has now been delayed to May 26, 2026.
Living Large On the High Seas
It's likely that GTA 6 will feature yachts in some way, but taking the extra step and allowing players to use these floating houses as their home of choice opens the door to a lot of possibilities. Not only does it add to the realism of Vice City's indulgent world, but it also presents exciting customization options.
If GTA 6 featured customizable yachts, there's no telling what crazy in-game homes players would design. Over the years, GTA Online has made way for some hilariously outrageous role-playing moments, and players are bound to continue their wild antics on interactive yachts. It's unclear how GTA Online will influence GTA 6, but improving some of the former's features that hold even more potential feels highly possible, and yachts are hopefully near the top of that list.
Vice City is a sun-drenched, crime-filled land of hedonism.
GTA 6 will be available for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. However, now that the Switch 2 is considerably more powerful than its predecessor, a port for the Nintendo console isn't impossible.
A Longer Wait for GTA 6 is Ultimately a Good Thing
Gamers may have to wait a year longer than anticipated, but more time in the oven is usually good in the world of game development. GTA 6's launch is set to be a massive moment for the industry, regardless of the year. 2025 is already filled to the brim with releases, so this delay also gives other titles plenty of room to breathe and have their time in the spotlight before GTA 6 arrives.
On the bright side, there are games like MindsEye on the way that can help scratch that GTA 6 itch. As the year continues, only time will tell if Rockstar drops a second trailer or gameplay deep dive. If so, then it will be exciting to see just how much further the developer has managed to expand its immersion-building features.
