Summary
- Elon Musk's video gaming skills have been scrutinized recently due to doubts about achievements in Path of Exile 2.
- Grimes defends Musk, claiming she witnessed his gaming accomplishments, including ranking in Diablo 4.
Elon Musk’s ex, singer Grimes, has commented on his closely scrutinized claims of video gaming prowess. For years, Musk has openly discussed his love of video games and has frequently shared his accomplishments on social media. Generally, fellow gamers have accepted his assertions as fact, and many have even praised some of the Tesla CEO’s touted feats in games like Path of Exile 2.
Recently, however, the entrepreneur’s video gaming skills have been called into question, particularly when it comes to Grinding Gear Games' recently released action RPG. Musk shared that he had reached level 97 in Path of Exile 2’s hardcore permadeath mode, without help from any third party. Considering that similarly ranked players grinded through multiple 20-hour sessions to reach that level, Musk’s assertion was deemed impossible by many people.
Asmongold Responds to Elon Musk Criticism
Controversial Twitch streamer Asmongold issues a sharp response to Elon Musk after the billionaire belittled his gaming skills.
This doubt was only bolstered by the fact that Musk had recently been kicked from Path of Exile 2 for performing too many actions in short succession, which some believe was due to using macros or other cheats. The CEO’s ex, pop star Grimes, chimed in on the controversy, stating that she had personally witnessed some of Musk’s gaming accomplishments. He was, she said, the first American druid to clear Abattoir of Zir in Diablo 4 and finished that season as the best in the US, which is supported by records from the time. He also ranked highly in The Battle of Polytopia, a turn-based strategy game by Midjiwan AB, and even outplayed the title’s creator, Felix af Ekenstam.
Has Elon Musk Achieved What He Claims in Video Games?
Musk, for his part, reponded to Grimes’ statement with a simple, “Thanks.” However, a lot of people are still dubious of her ex’s claims. Even if Musk did legitimately rank incredibly well in Diablo 4, there are several things that make his Path of Exile 2 ranking questionable. First, he livestreamed himself playing the game and seemed to have little understanding of many basic mechanics. He didn’t know how to use maps, didn’t use loot filters, and failed to pop a mana flask when OOM during a boss fight. Musk even ran past valuable drops like Chaos Orbs and opted not to loot one of the best staves in the game, an Agony Pole Advanced Barrier Quarterstaff with incredible affixes. These are all things that would be known to somebody who had spent hundreds of hours reaching level 97.
One of the most a-ha moments for Musk’s doubters came when he was spotted playing Path of Exile 2 while also having a conversation live on Twitter with Alice Weidel, a politician currently in the running to become Germany’s next chancellor. Musk’s supporters argue that, as a highly intelligent and accomplished man, the SpaceX CEO can probably easily multitask, enjoying an action RPG while simultaneously actively discussing European politics.
