Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree puts the players up against their most difficult fight in the entire series by far in the final battle against Miquella. The Lord Consort of the cursed teenage god is none other than the decorated war enthusiast and gravity magic master, Radahn.

Many players in the DLC will already have the weapon of the base game Radahn, Starscourge Greatsword but the Promised Consort version of this boss has a significantly different moveset, and features two separate weapons that the players can pick as their remembrance reward, i.e., Greatsword of Radahn (Light), and Greatsword of Radahn (Lord). These two differ only in their weapon skill.

The Flowerstone Gavel can be a part of an overpowered build in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree when properly utilized.

Which Greatsword of Radahn Should You Choose in SOTE

Of the two weapon options that players are given for the remembrance of a god and a lord, there isn't a clear winner. The Lord version of the weapon features the Promised Consort ash of war which has the player execute a three part combo that can deal immense damage and costs 40 FP in total, with the follow ups costing 10 FP each. Meanwhile, the Light version has the ash of war, Lightspeed Slash, which can be charged and costs 26 FP to cast. During the attack, the player rises from the ground after a small charge animation, and slams forward into the enemy. The range on this attack isn't the best, but the wind up isn't very high so it balances out overall.

The best option for almost any player is Greatsword of Radahn (Light). The Lightspeed Slash weapon skill might do less damage on paper, but getting all three hits of the Promised Consort off is difficult without trading hits. Since players don't get a lot of hyper armor during the skill, they can easily be staggered out of it. Although it has some decent movement, it only has the player go forward, with no directional movement for the most part. This makes using it to dodge enemy attacks pretty difficult. Of course, it is a viable strategy, it's just much harder to execute and needs a very different playstyle compared to the Light version of the weapon. Both of the swords have an almost identical build, with some talismans that should potentially be changed between the two variations for maximum damage.

Both weapons are good enough against most enemies in the game, including elites and dungeon bosses. However, they don't shine the brightest against major bosses due to their lackluster damage compared to other overpowered builds in the game.

Best Stat Distribution for Greatsword of Radahn in Shadow of the Erdtree

The stat requirements for this weapon are interesting, to say the least. Since Radahn is known for his gravity magic, it makes sense that his weapon would have an INT requirement, but the fact that the weapon doesn't feature any gravity-based attack makes the stat requirement feel unwarranted.

Weirdly enough, the pillars of light that hit after the ash of war is executed actually scale off the INT stat rather than the FAI stat. They deal holy damage, but scale with INT. This means that players should focus on their INT stat as their primary damage dealing method, with STR being secondary and DEX being relegated to a simple requirement with minimal scaling effects.

Any additional stat points should be used to bring INT up to 80, and increase Vigor, Mind, or Endurance according to the preference of the player. If you're trying to use the Lord version of the weapon, you should invest in Endurance more heavily so you can equip heavier armor with higher poise to tank hits through your three hit combo.

Best Talisman Choices for the Greatsword of Radahn in the Elden Ring DLC

The Magic Scorpion Charm will increase the damage of the weapon's normal swings while the Sacred Scorpion Charm will increase the damage of the weapon skill. Both are viable alternatives to any of the above talismans in the build.

Players can also use the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia to increase the damage of their follow ups if they are using the Lord Greatsword. Additionally, the Bull-Goat's Talisman might be a good option to increase your poise when using Ash of War: Promised Consort.

Best Wondrous Physik Mixture for Greatsword of Radahn in Shadow of the Erdtree

The Magic-Shrouding Cracked Tear can be swapped for the Opaline Hardtear since it increases the amount of damage you deal with your base attacks, making it a useful accessory to the main holy damage that you deal with your ash of war. However, the Opaline Hardtear gives you more survivability. At the end of the day, the second crystal tear is a matter of preference and playstyle.

Best Spells To Use With Greatsword of Radahn in SOTE

best spells for greatsword of radahn in elden ring shadow of the erdtree

Since players will invest so heavily in the INT stat to maximize their skill damage, it makes sense to diversify your attacking capabilities with some sorceries. Since you lack good long range options, having sorceries that target far away enemies is a good bet. And of course, as a General Radahn cosplayer, you can always benefit from a gravity sorcery or two.

If you're going to use gravity magic you should use the meteorite staff, but if you're planning on using other spells as well, the Lusat Glintstone staff should be your casting catalyst of choice. Here are some of the best sorceries in the game that should be accessible to you as an INT heavy build.

Buffing Routine with Greatsword of Radahn in the Elden Ring DLC

buffing routine for greatsword of radahn in elden ring shadow of the erdtree

Buffing with this build is a bit difficult since players probably won't have any skill points in FAI, locking them out of Golden Vow and Howl of Shabriri, two of the best buffing incantations in the game. However, players can get around this requirement for Golden Vow by using the Ash of War: Golden Vow on any dagger of their choice. Though not as powerful as the incantation, it gives a decent damage and damage negation bonus to the player.

For the body buff, players should go with either Radiant Baldachin's Blessing for the increased poise, the boiled seafood for better damage negation, or a Bloodboil Aromatic for even higher damage.

  • Use the Wondrous Physik first.
  • Use Radiant Baldachin's Blessing or eat your body buffing item of choice.
  • Swap to a dagger with the Golden Vow ash of war and use it to increase damage negation and damage dealt and then double hand the Greatsword of Radahn.
