8 Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry

5 Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation

A spinoff of the third game that brings some unique ideas to the table. Assassin's Creed should be lauded for letting players control a female protagonist for the very first time in the series. It also lets players don three different personas for the protagonist, Aveline.

She can either don the Assassin's gear with all the advantages it offers, wear a slave getup to get access to certain areas at the cost of less weaponry, or dress up as a lady to charm guards with ease but lose all her freerunning abilities. This mechanic had some interesting applications, even if some players found it irritating to be without their tools when they were being chased by guards who could annihilate Aveline if she didn't have many combat options to rely on.

4 Assassin's Creed Rogue

Assassin's Creed Rogue is a unique game in the series that lets players join the Templars to work against the Assassin Order. It's a refreshing take on a formula that was getting stale, emulating the strongest aspects of Black Flag's gameplay to great effect.

The game was very short, with its length becoming a major point of criticism for many people. However, players who don't mind checking out a short yet sweet Assassin's Creed adventure will have a great time with Rogue.

3 Far Cry New Dawn

Far Cry 5 was a step in the right direction for the series, even if the ending was a bit too nuclear for most people's tastes. This conclusion was built upon in New Dawn, letting players explore Hope County in the wake of this apocalypse that looks more different than ever before.

Steep is one of the more unique open-world games made by Ubisoft, letting players engage in several extreme sports in the Alps. The wintry setting is gorgeous to look at, and players will love the sheer number of activities they have access to.

Becoming an Ultimate Legend in each sport may seem daunting, but players with a one-track mind can accomplish this goal in record time. However, the beautiful open world will compel most people to take in the sights and make progress at a leisurely pace, which is enjoyable for obvious reasons.

Far Cry Primal is a unique take on this established formula that fans can check out if they don't mind missing out on the series' excellent gunplay. The prehistoric setting ensures that players will spend more time taming beasts and relying on archaic weapons to get the job done against their foes, which makes for a compelling gameplay loop.

It's not the shortest game around, but players making a beeline for the ending can complete this game pretty quickly. If people want to spend time taming powerful mounts and honing their skills, then it may take longer for them to be satisfied with their progress before continuing the main story.
