Recently, The Best War Games reported on speculation that the Grand Theft Auto franchise oldies would see a release on the PS3. Though we admitted the Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice-City would reappear on the PS3 at some point, we suggested that the current rumors were nothing more than conjecture, and it more was likely that Sony had actually secured the rights to the GTA oldies for use with the newly released PSPgo.
Today, we received confirmation via Rockstar Games press release that the GTA oldies would soon be available for the PSP through the PSN.

Rockstar Press Release:
Today we are happy to announce the Rockstar Legacy Collection of PSP (PlayStation Portable) system titles. Beginning October 15, Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, Midnight Club: L.A. Remix and Manhunt 2 will be available for digital download from the PlayStation Network for the PSP system.
We are also proud to unveil the official Rockstar-branded storefront on the PlayStation Network. Launching October 22, the storefront will offer the full complement of new and Legacy Rockstar titles for the PSP system, including Beaterator, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, and The Warriors, all available for digital download.
As we mentioned, Sony has seemingly decided to nix PS2 backwards compatibility on the PS3 so there’s little doubt we’ll see the GTA oldies made available at some point for PS3 owners: either as a God of War-like remastered blu-ray collection or as individual downloads via the PSN.
So what would you prefer - a remastered blu-ray collection or unaltered PSN downloads? Speak up, Rockstar might be listening.
