Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to be the biggest video game release of all time. After years of speculation and anticipation, fans have some unbelievably lofty expectations for GTA 6, and Rockstar is going to try its very best to meet those. But that's much easier said than done, and if Rockstar needs a little more time to meet those expectations, that'll be for the best.
That being said, Grand Theft Auto 6 is still officially set for a 2025 release, and with that date creeping closer, it's about time Rockstar released another trailer. Grand Theft Auto 6's next reveal doesn't need to be a huge one, but it would be nice to find out a bit more about the game's male deuteragonist and get another look at this next-gen version of Vice City. For that purpose, there are a few dates that would be a perfect fit for GTA 6's next trailer.
Predicting Grand Theft Auto 6's Next Reveal Date
December 4, 2024 - The One-Year Anniversary of GTA 6's First Trailer
After years of rumors, leaks, hacks, and teases, Grand Theft Auto 6 was officially announced in November 2023 with a rather nonchalant statement from Rockstar that thanked fans for 25 years of support and promised a full GTA 6 reveal trailer in early December. True to its word, Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto 6's first trailer on December 4, 2023.
It would make perfect sense, then, for Grand Theft Auto 6's second trailer to be released on December 4, 2024, the one-year anniversary of the game's official reveal. This would also line up well with Rockstar's past marketing patterns, with Grand Theft Auto 5's first trailer dropping in November 2011 and its second in November 2012, and Red Dead Redemption 2's first trailer landing in October 2016 and then its second in September 2017.
December 12, 2024 - The Game Awards
Alternatively, if Grand Theft Auto 6 wanted to share the spotlight, its second trailer could be released during The Game Awards ceremony on December 12, 2024. The Game Awards is only getting bigger with each passing year, and with this year's ceremony marking the event's 10th anniversary, it seems likely Geoff Keighley would want to pull out the big guns and call in some big favors, and he couldn't get much bigger than GTA 6.
Rockstar Can Play By Its Own Rules
But while these two December dates would make complete sense, there's one major factor that could throw these predictions out of the window: Rockstar can be a loose cannon sometimes. Though GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2's first and second trailers were within a year of each other, there's no guarantee that Rockstar will repeat the pattern for GTA 6.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is possibly the most anticipated game of all time, and it's already proven with its initial reveal that the gaming world will stop and pay attention whenever it decides to rear its head again. GTA 6 doesn't need to time its next reveal with an anniversary or major gaming event, and it doesn't need to rush another trailer into production. No one is forgetting about GTA 6's existence anytime soon. Rockstar might simply drop GTA 6's next trailer when it's ready.
