When Sony initially announced God of War Ragnarok, the game was expected to be out in 2021. However, it was ultimately delayed, with a new release date set for November 9, 2022. God of War Ragnarok is easily one of the most highly-anticipated games of this coming holiday season, and so it's safe to say many fans would be disappointed if the game was pushed back yet again. Luckily, it doesn't seem as though fans have to worry about a God of War Ragnarok release date delay just yet.

There is a great deal of speculation on Twitter about what inspired Barlog to send out the initial tweet. Some have guessed that perhaps Barlog has been seeing a lot of the negative posts aimed at PlayStation recently in the wake of Death Stranding coming to PC Game Pass, and so the "be cool" was in response to that toxicity. Another theory floated by fans is that God of War Ragnarok may have a controversial reveal soon that could potentially upset some players, and so Barlog is trying to calm fans down ahead of time. There is no actual evidence for this, though, and in fact, there is no indication that Barlog's tweet is related to gaming at all.

Jumping to conclusions is exactly what caused people to get upset about the initial tweet and their fear of a God of War Ragnarok release date delay that is apparently not happening, so it may be best for fans to not look too much into tweets like this. While there's certainly a chance the game could end up delayed, it seems to be on track to meet its scheduled November 9 date, with Sony ramping up marketing efforts and confirming the contents of the Collector's and Jotnar Editions of the game.

Numerous video games scheduled to release in 2022 have since been delayed to 2023, and so God of War Ragnarok joining that list wouldn't be all that surprising, though it's not something fans need to worry about for now.
