A God of War Ragnarok player shared an unsettling picture that shows why players must think twice before pausing cutscenes. Cutscenes are a crucial part of many modern games as they shed light on important events related to the story, and God of War Ragnarok is no different. God of War Ragnarok is full of nail-biting cinematics, like the first meeting between Thor and Kratos, and Odin's first appearance.
However, some God of War Ragnarok fans don't like watching cutscenes as they believe it's time-consuming and makes the experience slightly passive. On the other hand, cinematics in games slow down the pace and give the player some time to regroup while giving important information about the story. Pausing the game during a cutscene is normal practice, but one God of War Ragnarok gamer has found out that people should be careful while doing it.
Reddit user Big_Guy6 shared an image on the God of War Ragnarok subreddit showing the pause screen during a cutscene. The caption says the user paused the game during a cutscene when Atreus turns into a bear. Atreus has a special ability in God of War Ragnarok to transform into a feral bear or wolf, and the user paused the screen during his transformation. Shockingly, Atreus's look is changed dramatically due to the awkward timing of the pause, as he looks like a weird cross between a human and a bear. Atreus's face appears to have a snout, similar to animals like dogs, wolves, and bears.
The God of War Ragnarok community on Reddit was amused to see the unusual appearance of Atreus, and many compared him to a rat. One user jokingly called him "Ratreus," while another compared it to a scene from the movie Jumanji. This particular cutscene takes place in Sindri's house in the presence of Tyr, Freya, Brok, and Sindri from God of War Ragnarok, when Atreus lashes out and suddenly transforms into a massive bear.
Atreus's shapeshifting abilities in God of War Ragnarok are one of his greatest assets, as he gets tremendous amounts of strength and aggression in animal form. In addition, Atreus excels in linguistic capabilities as he can understand various animals and the native language of dwarves and dark elves. He is also a skilled combatant and a crucial ally to Kratos. Still, God of War Ragnarok players must be careful while pausing during cutscenes if they don't want to see a deformed Atreus.
God of War Ragnarok is available now for PS4 and PS5.
