Summary
- God of War Ragnarok PC system requirements have been revealed.
- The specs list is notably more demanding than the system requirements of the God of War PC port from 2022.
- Unlike its predecessor, Ragnarok requires an SSD and a PlayStation Network account.
Sony has shared the official God of War Ragnarok PC system requirements. The specs list reveals that God of War Ragnarok will need notably beefier PCs than the previous game did to achieve the same level of performance across all categories.
The God of War Ragnarok PC port was officially announced in late May 2024. The game is scheduled to reach Steam on September 19, some six weeks ahead of its second anniversary.
God of War's Atreus Growing into Adulthood Can't Repeat the Mistakes of Kratos' Past
As God of War moves forward with Atreus, the series has an interesting choice to make with its family dynamics and story beats.
As is normally the case with PlayStation PC ports, Sony has now shared the game's system requirements ahead of its Steam debut. The biggest difference compared to the God of War system requirements is that the new specs list mandates one generation newer GPU and CPU models across every performance category. The new minimum is the Nvidia GTX 1060 or AMD RX 5500 XT paired with the Intel i5 4670K or AMD Ryzen 3 1200. Along with 8GB of RAM, this combo is estimated to deliver 30 frames per second at a 1080p resolution while using the game's low graphic settings.

The listed performance estimates refer to native resolution, with no upscaling technology used.
At the same time, getting a stable 60fps at medium settings will require either the i5 8600 or Ryzen 5 3600 with the RTX 2060 Super or RX 5700, as well as 16GB of RAM. This hardware combination constitutes the game's recommended specs. The RAM requirements cap out at 16GB all the way up to ultra settings. As is the case with most modern eye-candy games, God of War Ragnarok will be much more GPU- than CPU-intensive. Aside from having an unlocked frame rate, the PC port will support many modern upscaling and frame generation solutions: NVIDIA DLSS 3.7, AMD FSR 3.1, and Intel Xess 1.3.
The game will also be more than twice the size of its predecessor, requiring approximately 190GB of storage space. And while using an SSD was already recommended for the 2022 God of War PC port, Ragnarok makes it a requirement. That's far from an unexpected move, as many AAA titles released in recent years have insisted on solid-state drives. That growing group of SSD-only games includes the likes of Starfield, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Assassin's Creed Mirage. Even some slightly older titles like Cyberpunk 2077 have updated their system requirements in order to stop supporting hard disk drives post-release.
God of War Ragnarok PC Port Requires PSN Account
One final requirement for playing God of War Ragnarok on PC is having a PlayStation Network account. While this was already confirmed back when the game was announced in May, Sony's newly shared specs list reiterates that requirement.
