God of War 3 brings an end to Kratos' story in Greece as he finally takes down his father and the ruler of the Olympians, Zeus. After beating the action-packed story of God of War 3, there are many other things that players can do instead of putting down their controllers.

One such thing is the Challenge of Olympus, which is unlocked after players beat the story for the very first time. There are seven challenges in total, and they can prove to be extremely challenging without the proper strategy. So, this particular guide will cover how to complete the Challenge of Olympus.

Population Control

God of War 3 population control challenge
  • Objective: Don’t allow there to be more than 50 enemies to be in the fight arena at the same time. Kill them before too many spawn or the time runs out.

This is the first and arguably the easiest challenge. The players will have to focus on eliminating as many enemies as possible in order to keep the number below 50. Players can equip Kratos' Nemean Cestus and start pummeling enemies with the basic Square, Square, and Triangle combo. Alternatively, players can also utilize the Triangle + Triangle combo.

Bare Hands

  • Objective: Before time runs out, kill all enemies without using any weapons.

Bare Hands is one of the more tricky challenges, as it requires killing all enemies without any weapons. This may sound bizarre at first, especially considering the challenge has a cyclops and two powerful golems. The best way to complete it is by grabbing a sentry and using it as a battering ram against the bigger enemies.

Players will have to try and hit as many enemies as possible with the battering ram in order to ensure the challenge is completed within the time limit.

Get Stoned

God of war 3 kratos petrified by gorgons
  • Objective: Allow the Gorgons to turn you to stone 10 times without dying.

This is arguably the most difficult challenge, as players not only have to be petrified but also have to fight hordes of enemies. In order to force the Gorgons into petrifying Kratos, players can try to grab them with the Circle button. The grab will obviously not work, but it will force the Gorgons into using their gaze.

Once the Gorgons use their stare, players have to use the Golden Fleece to reflect the attack, which can be done by pressing the L1 button. This will initiate a prompt telling the players to press a specific button to complete the action. Players should refrain from pushing the button, allowing Kratos to turn to stone.

Once Kratos is petrified, the players will have to move the left analog stick to break him free. With every petrification, the level of the monsters keeps increasing. Therefore, it is important to check the surroundings before allowing Kratos to turn to stone. If Kratos is low on health, players can grab the roaming souls and get Green orbs to replenish their health.

El Matador – Ole’

God of war 3 minotaur challenge
  • Objective: Don’t get gored by the Minotaur. Don’t get piled on by the enemies.

This challenge is fairly straightforward. Players will have to avoid being gored, and there are two ways to deal with the minotaurs.

  • The first is to stun them with a Square, Square, and Triangle combo.
  • The second method involves evading the enemies' attacks and landing a hit whenever possible.

In order to deal with the hordes of enemies, players can simply use L1 + Square. This attack will repel waves of sentries effortlessly. One thing to keep in mind is that minotaurs can interrupt Kratos' attacks in God of War 3, so it is better to use longer combos against the sentries.

Knockout

God of war knockout challenge
  • Objective: Score 1000 Points by knocking enemies out of the arena. Sentry = 16 points, Minotaur= 30 Points, Wraith = 60 Points

The challenge starts with Kratos fighting a Cyclops. Players will have to continuously attack the monster until they see the Circle button appear over its head. After pressing the button, Kratos will climb on top of the Cyclops and seize control.

There is a time limit to complete the challenge, so it is better to attack the Cyclops repeatedly to gain control as early as possible.

Once the monster is under Kratos' control, keep pressing the Square button to attack the other creatures that are summoned. Each monster gives a different amount of points, and for this reason, it is better to target the bigger enemies.

Hades’ Kids

God of war 3 Hades kids challenge
  • Objective: They don’t die, they multiply. Get 5 Cyclops to spawn.

The Hades' Kids challenge will start with one Cyclops, and after the monster is defeated, two more will spawn in its place. The numbers keep increasing with every wave. Players will have to be careful, as the Cyclops can use attacks that can knock Kratos out of the arena if he is too close to the edge.

The various combos of Kratos' Blades of Exile, especially Square, Square, and Triangle, should be enough to take them down.

Simply Smashing

God of war 3 destroying urns challenge
  • Objective: Destroy all the urns before time runs out.

While the challenge seems simple, it can prove frustrating if the players don't plan their moves correctly. The best way to complete the challenge is by using L1 + Square (Cyclone of Chaos) and Square, Square, and Triangle (Plume of Prometheus). Most of the urns break with light attacks, but some require heavy attacks.

God of War 3 is available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
