Ghost of Yotei is one of the most anticipated game releases of the year, as it continues the legacy that Ghost of Tsushima started. This time around, Ghost of Yotei will set its story 300 years after the events of its predecessor, and with that change comes a brand-new protagonist; Atsu.

In contrast to Jin Sakai's mission of protecting the island of Tsushima from the Mongol invasion, Atsu is fully fueled by revenge. It's a compelling subversion, and a story purely focused on vengeance has left a lot of gamers eager to know more about Atsu and her motives. Since Ghost of Yotei doesn't come out until the fall, gamers will have to wait a little bit longer to step into the shoes of Atsu, but on the bright side, Sony fans can get a surprising sneak peek at the character next month, thanks to Astro Bot.

Ghost of Yotei may already be impressive, but it’s missing a simple feature from Red Dead Redemption that could make its world feel fully alive.

Ghost of Yotei Will Be Coming to Astro Bot Next Month

Astro Bot's July Update Brings Players Fresh Content

  • Astro Bot's next update launches on July 10.
  • Atsu will get her own cameo bot in Astro Bot alongside several other bots that have yet to be revealed.
  • The update also adds five new challenge levels to the platformer.

During the June 4 Sony State of Play, Astro Bot players got a fun surprise when developer Team Asobi confirmed a treasure trove of exciting new content. Not only is Atsu going to be officially added to the game, but further surprise characters were teased, promising some exciting new bots to stumble upon. The announcement itself was interesting enough, but it's extra thrilling that this technically marks Atsu's gaming debut.

Of course, an Atsu bot is far from the vengeful warrior depicted in Ghost of Yotei' s trailers, but it serves as a fun way to introduce the character to Sony fans. Ghost of Yotei is a promising action adventure title, but this small sneak peek offers a different side of Atsu ahead of the game's launch. Through the bot's animations, players may be able to get insight into certain aspects of Atsu's personality.

Ghost of Yotei is slated to launch on October 2.

Astro Bot's July Update is Just the Tip of the Iceberg for Ghost of Yotei

  • A showcase fully dedicated to Ghost of Yotei is also taking place in July.
  • The deep dive will offer gamers a look at gameplay.

Ghost of Yotei is set to have a big July in general. Between the Astro Bot update and developer Sucker Punch's planned gameplay showcase, those who have been eagerly awaiting Ghost of Yotei will have a lot to look forward to next month. With Ghost of Yotei being such an anticipated sequel, it only makes sense for Sony to want to ignite as much hype as possible before its October launch.

Ghost of Yotei' s gameplay has been a hot topic among gamers, as the sequel is shaking up the mechanics established by its predecessor. Dual-wielding katanas and the introduction of matchlock guns have teased thrilling changes, and these features will likely be getting a special spotlight during the gameplay showcase.

Ghost of Yotei takes place in Northern Japan in the region of Ezo.

Atsu's Journey Holds A Lot of Promise

Meeting, and potentially even exceeding, the expectations set by Ghost of Tsushima is definitely no easy task. Many are eager to see if Ghost of Yotei is better than Ghost of Tsushima, and the series' new focus on revenge over honor is a bold risk that could pay off quite well. Before Ghost of Yotei was announced, many expected Ghost of Tsushima to have a straightforward sequel, but this drastic departure keeps things fresh, and it might be just what the franchise needs to continue growing.
