Like many PC ports of its kind, Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut on PC is no stranger to bugs. The most common among them, which somewhat ruins the dramatic tension of a key Ghost of Tsushima mechanic, is a glitch that prevents players from using Standoff.

The Standoff in Ghost of Tsushima allows Jin to approach nearby enemies and engage with them in a duel, allowing him to cut through up to five enemies. Instead of the intended effect, pressing the correct button will not trigger the Standoff, or will only trigger it sometimes.

While the developers find an official fix to the Standoff bug on PC, this guide will detail the various fixes that can re-enable this powerful ability and allow you to net those Ghost of Tsushima achievements.

How To Fix The Standoff Bug In GOT's PC Version

Though the exact cause of this issue isn’t yet understood, there are a few measures that players can take to resolve it while an official patch is in the works for PC and PS5.

Change The Accessibility Settings

When using a controller to play Ghost of Tsushima on PC, by default, you have to hold the Triangle/Y button to engage in a Standoff. Changing this may help resolve the issue. To do so, open the Pause menu, and navigate to Options > Accessibility > Gamepad > Toggle Button Holds. Enable Toggle Button Holds, then retry a Standoff; afterward, you can disable Toggle Button Holds to fix the Standoff bug.

Limit The Frame Rate

Some users have suggested that limiting the framerate of Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut will solve the problem. There are many ways to do this on PC, but the most readily accessible is to limit the game’s Refresh Rate by going to Options > Display > Refresh Rate, and setting it to 60Hz.

Turn Off Nvidia Reflex

If other methods of fixing the Standoff bug haven’t worked, open the Pause menu, scroll to Options > Display > Nvidia Reflex Low Latency, and turn the option off. This option is only available to players with Nvidia graphics cards and may reduce in-game performance. Make sure to update your drivers for Ghost of Tsushima, too.

Switch To Mouse And Keyboard

If all else fails, since this issue is primarily attributed to using a controller, Ghost of Tsushima players on PC may have an easier time with Standoffs if they play the game with a mouse and keyboard, instead.
