One of the Ghost of Tsushima’s biggest plus points is how easy it makes it for players to drastically change their playstyles without forcing them to do something tedious like respeccing skill points to try out new builds.

No, Ghost of Tsushima’s builds revolve around the armor set and the charms a player has equipped at any given time. And since players can change these sets on the fly, there is no downside to trying out different things. However, to make it even easier for players to switch things up, the game has a feature called Loadouts that allows players to customize each armor set with a specific set of charms and cosmetics. Here is how players can use Loadouts.

  3. Scroll to ‘Enable Armor Loadouts’ and toggle it. It will be OFF by default; switch it ON.

Now that the Loadout function has been enabled, players can now customize each individual armor set with their own load out. Here is how to set it up.

  1. Open the Gear menu from the Pause screen and select ‘Outfit.’
  2. Scroll down and click on the third option, the armor set.
  3. Equip the armor you want to assign a loadout to.
  4. Go back to the previous screen and equip all charms, helmets, masks, ranged weapons, and saddles you want to equip with that armor.

How Do Loadouts Work in Ghost of Tsushima

using a loadout in Ghost of Tsushima

The way Loadouts work in Ghost of Tsushima is that once the option is enabled, any changes to equipment - other than the armor itself - are saved to the armor that is equipped at the time.

Players don’t need to go to the armor selection screen every time they need to update the loadout. All gear selections are saved to the currently equipped armor’s loadout automatically.

This means that if, say, players choose the Heavenly Falcon sword kit for Jin while wearing the Samurai Clan armor, that sword kit selection will be saved only for the Samurai Clan armor set. If players switch later to something else, the Heavenly Falcon will be unequipped in favor of either the default sword skin or whatever the sword kit loadout for the new armor set is. This holds true for everything from charms to horse saddles.

This is why if players want to use Loadouts, they should not switch to a fresh new armor set without customizing its loadout first. Otherwise, they’ll find themselves fighting off the Mongol invasion without any charms to help out.
