Genshin Impact has officially confirmed the characters that will appear in the two banner cycles of the upcoming Update 5.0. Genshin Impact's major updates are typically the most exciting annual events for most players, as they introduce a wealth of new content and an entirely new storyline.
The Special Program event for Genshin Impact Version 5.0 revealed a wealth of information about the upcoming content, including the long-awaited Natlan region. The livestream event confirmed the arrival of three new characters: Mualani, Kachina, and Kinich.
For a long time, Genshin Impact updates have featured four limited characters, two for each banner cycle. As the pool of playable characters continues to expand, every new update includes multiple re-run characters. Each update lasts approximately six weeks, meaning Travelers have around three weeks to obtain a limited character. Genshin Impact's most recent Special Program event for Version 5.0 confirmed that the first part of the update will feature Mualani and Kazuha, while the second banner cycle will include Kinich and Raiden Shogun. The stream also revealed the four-star lineup for the first banner cycle.

Mualani is expected to be a powerful catalyst DPS character with a kit that revolves around entering a special state called Nightsoul Blessing. She relies on enhanced Normal Attacks to deal most of her damage. Recent Genshin Impact leaks have revealed that Mualani has undergone slight nerfs, though these changes will only affect her exploration experience.
Mualani's banner colleague, Kaedehara Kazuha, is one of the best support characters in the game, capable of shredding enemies' resistance while providing a powerful damage buff to the entire team composition. The livestream revealed that Genshin Impact's Dendro user Kinich will have a unique grappling hook mechanic that allows him to connect with an opponent and move around them, dealing Dendro damage in the process.
Despite previous Genshin Impact rumors suggesting that the Geo Archon would be featured in this banner, HoYoverse confirmed that Inazuma's leader, Raiden Shogun, will be the first Archon to appear on a banner in Natlan. Like most Archons in Genshin Impact, Raiden Shogun is highly versatile and can fit into almost any team composition that requires an Electro user.
