According to leaks from Uncle Kokomi posted on the r/Genshin_Impact_Leaks Subreddit, there will allegedly be no new playable character arriving in Genshin Impact’s version 5.8 update. Regardless of the source’s credibility, there’s still plenty of time for new information to be released and for this leak to be proven false before the version 5.8 update’s predicted release around July 30. However, if this controversial leak for Genshin Impact turns out to be true, this could arguably be a blessing in disguise.
Version 5.8 Might Be the Perfect Time to Start Saving for Nod-Krai Characters
Under any other circumstances, a Genshin Impact version update releasing without a new playable character would be cause for frustration, but if this is going to happen, the version 5.8 update might arguably be the best time for this. After the recent Archon character reruns throughout the Natlan region arc Event Wish Banners, and with a Chronicled Wish Banner for five-star Inazuma characters and their signature weapons coming in phase two of the version 5.6 update, version 5.8 could be a much-needed chance for players to start saving for the new playable characters coming in the Nod-Krai region arc.
Nod-Krai is a subregion of Snezhnaya, which is the homeland of the powerful Fatui Harbingers.
Version 5.8 Could Spotlight Reruns of Long-Overdue Characters
Another reason why the lack of a new playable character in version 5.8 could be a blessing in disguise is that this would consequently be the perfect chance to address Genshin Impact’s character rerun waiting list. After all, even without a new character, there will still be Event Wish Banners during the version 5.8 update. Including the characters who are scheduled to feature in the upcoming phase two of Genshin Impact’s 5.6 update Event Wish and Chronicled Wish Banners, there are still several four-star and five-star characters who are approaching the one-year mark since their last rerun by now.
Ultimately, while several NPCs in Genshin Impact are on fans’ waiting list to be upgraded to playable character status, no new character coming in the version 5.8 update arguably wouldn’t be so bad after all. Especially considering how stacked the recent Wish Banners have been throughout the version 5.0 updates in the Natlan region arc, this could be the perfect chance for Genshin Impact’s free-to-play players to stock back up on Wish currencies for the upcoming Nod-Krai arc’s upcoming playable characters. Otherwise, the version 5.8 update might also be an opportunity for highly anticipated character reruns to finally come around in the Event Wish Banners.
