While very little has been officially revealed about Genshin Impact’s upcoming version 5.5 update so far, the latest leaks suggest it will be massive. Among some of the new features players can look forward to in Genshin Impact’s 5.5 update, there will allegedly be several changes coming for Artifacts.
So far, two new Artifact sets are anticipated to arrive in the version 5.5 update, alongside several QoL changes related to Artifacts, and the first-ever Artifact Overflow event in Genshin Impact. Whether players are still optimizing their builds for existing characters or trying to get a head start on gathering Artifacts for some of the new characters coming to Genshin Impact in future updates, the 5.5 update will bring many improvements to farming Artifacts going forward.

Artifact QoL Changes Coming in Version 5.5
- Artifacts generated from consuming Sanctifying Elixir will be guaranteed to receive enhancements into chosen minor affixes at max level.
- Added text to Artifact definition explaining new guaranteed enhancements from Sanctifying Elixir.
- Enhanced Artifacts can now be salvaged.
- The remaining Artifact sets from Fontaine will be added to the Strongbox system.
Ahead of Genshin Impact’s version 5.5 update, several features anticipated for this update have already been revealed. Based on leaks from Hexenzirkel Leaks, some of the most notable QoL features coming in the 5.5 update will be improvements to the Artifact crafting process in Genshin Impact. The Sanctifying Elixirs used to craft Artifacts are rare and valuable materials, so naturally, improvements to the Artifact crafting process will go a long way toward making this a more worthwhile method for obtaining Artifacts.
Genshin Impact’s version 5.5 update is expected to be released on March 26, 2025. Meanwhile, the 5.5 Special Program reveal is expected to stream sometime around March 14.
Highly-Requested Artifact Overflow Event Leaked for Version 5.5
Also according to Hexenzirkel Leaks, the first-ever Artifact Overflow event is expected to arrive in Genshin Impact’s upcoming version 5.5 update. This new event in Genshin Impact will provide players with double drop rates in all Artifact Domains, which notably includes the new Artifact Domains leaked for the version 5.5 update. Typically, Overflow events have a daily limit for how many times players can complete the related activity for double rewards, and players also can’t use Condensed Resin to further improve their drop rates during the event. Still, though, this will be a great opportunity for players to farm new Artifact sets to help improve their character builds.
Two New 5.5 Artifact Sets Leaked
- The first new Artifact sets will provide permanent universal damage boosts from the two-piece set bonus, and temporary damage boosts for plunging attacks from the four-piece set bonus.
- The second new Artifact set will provide Cryo damage boosts from the two-piece set bonus, and damage boosts for normal attacks and Elemental Bursts while the equipped character has zero energy from the four-piece set bonus.
These two new Artifact sets coming to Genshin Impact come from leaks via Narc1ssus. The first new Artifact set coming in the version 5.5 update could potentially be the new best-in-slot for characters with kits that utilize plunging attacks, specifically, Xiao, Gaming, Xianyun, and Varesa.
For the second Artifact set, the Cryo damage bonus from the two-piece set bonus will be useful for a wide variety of characters. However, the four-piece set bonus is believed to be suited for Skirk, an upcoming five-star Cryo character who is currently anticipated for Genshin Impact’s version 5.7 update coming sometime around June 2025.
