New 5-Star Character

Genshin Impact Version 4.8 will be the debut of 5-star Dendro character Emilie, who is a Polearm user with skills that can increase the potency of Pyro characters' burning effects and increase her allies' burning RES during battle. Emilie is a renowned perfumer from Fontaine and also uses her scientific knowledge as a forensic cleaner. Emilie will be released in the second half of Genshin Impact Version 4.8's banner, along with Yelan. While the first half of the banner will feature Navia and Nilou.

  • First phase: Navia (Geo, Claymore) and Nilou (Hydro, Sword)
  • Second Phase: Emilie (Dendro, Polearm) and Yelan (Hydro, Bow)

In the Version 4.8 story quest, the Traveler will investigate the mysterious Auguste flower in Sumeru with the help of Emilie. The flower is said to emit a unique scent that can take over people's senses, so it will be interesting to see how the characters will resolve this problem in the region.

Summer Event-Exclusive Map

One of the highlights of Genshin Impact Version 4.8 is Simulanka, a limited-time map for the 2024 summer event that's said to be a fairytale-inspired map. The Simulanka mission will see the Traveler and their companions trying to uncover the mysterious crisis that's affecting the region, and their task is to revitalize the environment and save the origami animals from fading away. Based on the clips during the Version 4.8 Special Program stream, Simulanka's environment is filled with toy-like elements, including a flying train called the Aerial Express, which looks like a version of Honkai: Star Rail's Astral Express.

Character Skins

As part of the Simulanka adventure, both Nilou and Kirara will receive new fairytale-inspired skins. Nilou's outfit is a featherweight dress woven with countless flowers, and has a light fragrance. Meanwhile, Kirara's skin transforms her into a swashbuckling feline, which can be claimed for free after collecting enough Excepts of Bliss around Simulanka.

  • Nilou: Breeze of Sabaa skin
  • Kirara: Phantom in Boots skin

Limited Events and Permanent Game Mode

The summer event is filled with various events where Genshin Impact fans can experience more of Simulanka and also farm rewards for character upgrades, and more. Boreal Flurry lets players do flying challenges around Simulanka, where they destroy different targets to obtain points. The second event, called Flying Hatter's Trick, is described as being like a crane game, as players will have to attract and capture origami creatures using a floating hat. There's also the PvP event, Bing-Bang Finchball, and the Metropole Trials, which sets up a series of combat trials.

If players participate in all these Simulanka events, they can collect Starsail Coins, which can be used to claim keepsake figurines of various origami animals in Figurine Fabrication. These adorable collectibles can be displayed around Simulanka and players' Serenitea Pot, and can also be gifted to other players.

Genshin Impact Version 4.8 will also debut the new permanent game mode, Envisaged Echoes, which will test out players' knowledge of all characters' skills and abilities. It will have a series of challenges with designated characters to use, and if players win each challenge, they'll win Echo Cosmetic points to unlock unique trailing effects while characters are sprinting.
