With Nod-Krai set to launch in September 2025, Genshin Impact will close out Natlan with two key updates in Version 5.7 and Version 5.8. The first patch will introduce Skirk and Dahlia to Genshin Impact's growing list of characters, while Version 5.8 will add Mare Jivari as the final Natlan map expansion.
It remains to be seen if Version 5.8 will feature a new Genshin Impact character, as even reliable sources in the game's community struggle to reach a consensus. Some leaks point towards Version 5.8 introducing a new Hydro 5-Star, while others claim that Natlan will break a major pattern by only releasing 16 characters during its content cycle. Whatever the case may end up being, Nod-Krai itself appears to be stacked with important lore figures – and a fair few of them are expected to become playable.

According to DK2, one of the most reliable voices in the Genshin Impact community, Varka will indeed be a playable character in Nod-Krai. In terms of when fans can expect the Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius to join the cast, a separate leak by Shiroha may have the answer. While Shiroha isn't known for sharing Genshin Impact info, his track record for Honkai: Star Rail has been spotless for a long time. According to Shiroha, Varka will join the Event Banners in the latter half of Nod-Krai in Genshin Impact, effectively becoming the region's equivalent of Skirk or Arlecchino.
Genshin Impact: Varka Could Be Coming After Version 6.4
All signs point that Varka will be a 5-Star Anemo Claymore character, but for now, the leaks only vouch for his element. While it's too early to speculate on his gameplay, the majority of Anemo characters in Genshin Impact tend to be uncontroversial. Lan Yan and Chasca were well received by the community during the Natlan era, and even Mizuki and Ifa have their share of fans. The leak states that Durin will be Anemo as well, but it's more likely that he will be a Support character for Wanderer rather than Varka.
As for why HoYoverse could be holding Varka off for the latter half of Nod-Krai, there are a few possibilities to consider: staggering out the release of male characters, bundling him with a Mondstadt expansion, or having faith that he can carry the second half of the region.
