Genshin Impact players have noticed an interesting character in the most recent trailer for the upcoming five-star character, Varesa. Genshin Impact has already confirmed that the next update, Version 5.5, will feature two new playable units: the five-star Catalyst user Varesa and the four-star polearm user Iansan.
Both of these characters are confirmed to appear in the first banner cycle of the upcoming update, meaning players can obtain both by pulling on the same banner. While the two have yet to officially become playable, developer HoYoverse has apparently already teased the next characters set to join the roster in the foreseeable future.

Genshin Impact reveals details about two new artifact sets set to arrive alongside Varesa and Iansan with the release of Version 5.5.
Before each character arrives, Genshin Impact releases a series of promotional videos showcasing their personality, backstory, and on-field potential. In the most recently released character trailer, "Varesa: Pre-Tournament Prep," players have noticed an interesting character who briefly appears in the teaser. The scene only shows the backside of the character, who has long blonde hair, wears a chef's hat, and has a burgundy outfit. A Cryo Vision is also visible, attached to the back of her hat, confirming that she will have Cryo elemental powers. These details have led players to believe that this character is the long-awaited chef character, who, according to previous Genshin Impact rumors, is currently known as Escoffier. The Cryo user's design also matches the silhouette of a character officially announced by HoYoverse a few months ago.

Escoffier’s confirmed status as a Cryo user also gives credibility to previous leaks suggesting that she will work well with Cryo and Hydro characters, as she is expected to provide Elemental Shred for those two types of elemental damage. Many fans hope that Escoffier could improve the overall state of Cryo characters in Genshin Impact, much like how Xilonen became one of the best supports in the game despite being a Geo user.
Players are eager to learn more about Escoffier’s backstory, as she is rumored to be connected to the Fontaine storyline. There is even speculation that the main storyline may return to the Hydro nation. Additionally, Escoffier might not be the only new character arriving in this update, as HoYoverse’s recent Special Program event officially introduced Ifa, a renowned Saurian veterinarian from Natlan. Ifa has been mentioned in the game on multiple occasions and is known to be a close friend of the four-star Electro support Ororon.
As for Ifa’s elemental powers, he is confirmed to be an Anemo user. However, when it comes to the release dates of both Escoffier and Ifa, there is currently no official information. Assuming they will arrive in Genshin Impact Version 5.6, players can expect either of them to join the roster around May 7 at the earliest.
