Mika is a Cryo character who was introduced as a playable character in the second banner phase of the 3.5 version update of Genshin Impact, alongside Ayaka and Shenhe. Although he is well-known for his niche support role in gameplay, there is more to Mika than just his gameplay abilities, and players can learn more about him to enhance their gameplay experience.
Mika was first introduced during the "Of Ballads and Brews" event in version 3.1, where he was portrayed as a front-line surveyor of the Knights of Favonius' Reconnaissance Company, which is led by Eula. While players did not learn much about him during the event, his release as a playable character provides an opportunity to learn more about him by increasing his friendship level and discovering his story and personality. Despite his shyness, Mika values teamwork immensely and desires to learn from his colleagues. As players get to know him better, they will discover that he warms up to those close to him and is willing to open up about his thoughts and feelings. While there aren't any hangout quests for Mika as of his release, nor any significant story quest that features him, Mika might get further character development as Genshin Impact's overall narrative expands.
6 Mika Comes From A Family Of Knights Of Favonius
Mika hails from a caring and ordinary family, but the Schmidts have a long history of serving the Knights of Favonius. This family tradition spans back at least two generations, with Mika's father having retired from service. Mika and his older brother Huffman, an NPC in Mondstadt, who is often seen patrolling around Angel's Share in Mondstadt, currently serve in the ranks of the Knights.
Both brothers are known for their serious approach to their responsibilities, which has led to Kaeya teasing them for being too rigid. Despite this, Mika is also known for his caring nature towards his family, as Lisa mentions in her voice lines that he takes care of household matters and looks after Huffman when he gets drunk.
5 Mika’s Goal Is To Become An Expert Cartographer
Mika is a Knight who strives to improve his skills in every area required of him, but he is not entirely suited for combat. Instead, his passion and skills lie in surveying, which he developed in his childhood by reading maps and committing the terrain of many locations to memory. As he progressed in learning more about geography, he dedicated himself to becoming an expert cartographer in Mondstadt.
His skills in this field and his interest and passion have even earned Lisa's liking, and she has helped him by recommending books to him for efficient learning. Besides being polite, gifted, and hardworking, Eventually, Mika has also earned Lisa's recognition. She believes that he could have qualified for studying at the Akademiya.
4 Mika’s First Expedition Was With Ella Musk
Ella Musk is a well-known NPC in Genshin Impact, mainly because of her name. Many players may have already completed a set of quests that involve learning how to interact with Hilichurls in a friendly manner, where Ella Musk and the Traveler recite poetry or speak the Hilichurl language during Mondstadt's daily commissions. However, what many players may not know is that before Mika went on an expedition with Varka and the Traveler arrived in Mondstadt, Ella and Mika visited a Hilichurl tribe to communicate with them.
This was Mika's first expedition, and he was asked by Ella after they became acquainted during their visits to the library. Although Mika successfully guided Ella to the location of the Hilichurl tribe, at that time, Ella was not as experienced in the language as she is now. As a result, both of them unintentionally offended the Hilichurls by using the wrong words, and they were beaten by the tribe.
3 Mika’s Book Is A High-Tech Device
Mika's splash art shows him holding a book, which may seem odd since he is a polearm user in terms of his gameplay. Additionally, during his Elemental Skill, he is seen using a crossbow, leading some players to assume that he is proficient in multiple weapons like Childe and Raiden Shogun. While Mika is indeed trained in various weapons, his book is actually a high-tech device that serves as a multipurpose front-line surveying tool.
Developed by Mika and technicians from the Investigation Team, the device is known as the "Multipurpose Front-Line Surveying Device" and features key components made using Albedo's latest alchemical creations. While it has a wide range of functions such as scanning terrain and recording data to create maps, only someone as skilled and knowledgeable as Mika can utilize the device to its full potential.
2 Mika Is Released Almost 2 Years After The Last Mondstadt Character
Since the release of Eula on May 18, 2021, the Genshin Impact game has primarily focused on introducing characters from the newly added regions of Inazuma and Sumeru. Despite the introduction of new characters from Liyue, players had to wait almost two years for a new character from Mondstadt to be released.
Surprisingly, Mika's release has coincided with Eula's, and his abilities synergize well with Eula's specialization in physical damage, making him a good option in Eula's team compositions. As a member of the Reconnaissance Company, Mika is also Eula's subordinate, leading many players to speculate that his kit was specifically designed to complement Eula's.
1 Mika’s Birthday Is August 11
August 11th marks the birthday of Mika, making his astrological sign is Leo, the sign known for their charismatic and confident personality traits. While Mika doesn't show characteristics of being outgoing, they are reflected in his persona to some extent since he is a skilled and polite individual who is recognized for his hard work and dedication.
Being born in August, Mika's birthday falls in a relatively quiet period of the summer months when it comes to Genshin Impact characters' birthdays, following Amber's birthday on August 10th, who is another member of Knights of Favonius.
