Summary
- A Reddit user calculated Genshin Impact's Teyvat map width to be over 15km using a unique method.
- Players debated the map's realistic scale, with some expecting a larger number due to travel time.
- Future updates could increase map size, including a new sub-region with a Great Volcano and Snezhnaya region rumors.
A Genshin Impact player shared an interesting trick that allows them to determine the actual width of the current version of Teyvat. Genshin Impact's world and main continent is known as Teyvat, and it consists of seven major regions. At the moment, six of these regions are part of the game, with Snezhnaya being the only one missing.
The most recent Genshin Impact region added to the game is Natlan, the home of Saurians and the Pyro Archon. While Natlan was officially released in Version 5.0, HoYoverse has been expanding its playable terrain every couple of updates.
Genshin Impact Players Notice Interesting Paimon Detail After 4 Years
Genshin Impact players notice an interesting detail about Paimon and food vendors that has been part of the game since the very beginning.
A Reddit user named FloorGang-R2 has shared an interesting way to calculate the exact width of Genshin Impact's main continent. They did this by using the navigation tracker, which shows how far an objective is from the active character. While standing on the western part of the Natlan region and marking Ei, who is located on Narukami Island, the player determined that the map is just over 15 km (around 9.5 miles) wide. This experiment gained a lot of attention in the community, as the post received over 5.7k upvotes. Many players expressed disbelief, claiming there was no way the map was only 15 km wide. They had expected a much larger number, considering how long it takes to travel from one end to the other.
Genshin Impact: Teyvat's True Size Revealed
Others argued that it makes sense for the map to be scaled down compared to the lore, as this is common in most open-world games. A 1:1 scale would make it nearly impossible to achieve 100% exploration progress in Genshin Impact. Some players also pointed out that this is one of the reasons they are excited about the upcoming Genshin Impact anime project, as HoYoverse has showcased vast landscape scenes in the trailer.
This number could increase in the next update, as Genshin Impact Version 5.5 is expected to introduce a new sub-region, including the Great Volcano of Tollan. According to the main storyline, the volcano is located in the southwestern part of Natlan. Recent Genshin Impact leaks suggest that the volcano will feature impressive environmental effects.
Similar to Tsurumi Island's mist and Sumeru’s pyramid visuals, these volcano effects will likely be removed after the associated World Quest is completed. Once the entire Natlan expansion is wrapped up, the map is unlikely to get any wider since Genshin Impact's Snezhnaya nation is the only remaining region and is rumored to be in the northern part of Teyvat.
