Genshin Impact has given players a detailed overview of the Stygian Onslaught, offering tips on how to best approach the new endgame mode in Version 5.7. For the longest time, the endgame in Genshin Impact largely revolved around the Spiral Abyss. Version 4.7 introduced the Imaginarium Theater to the equation, and while a delicate balance was maintained between the two game modes, HoYoverse felt there was room for more.
Version 5.7 saw the debut of the Stygian Onslaught in Genshin Impact, albeit the game mode itself was inspired by previous combat events, such as the Unlimited Fighting Championship from Version 5.5. One thing that makes the Stygian Onslaught stand out from the Imaginarium Theater or the Spiral Abyss is the ability to tackle it in co-op, and the fact that teams start off at zero energy. While Genshnin Impact players have been really excited to test out the former, the latter has received negative feedback even during the beta.
Genshin Impact Officially Reveals Ineffa for Version 5.8
Genshin Impact kicks off the drip marketing for Ineffa, the upcoming 5-Star from Version 5.8 who has sparked a lot of interest over her ability kit.
With Stygian Onslaught's release on June 25, 2025, Genshin Impact wanted to give players a crash course on what to expect from the new endgame mode. Perhaps the most important thing to know is that it boasts six levels of difficulty, and players only need to complete the third one to claim all the Primogem rewards. The next two difficulties award a Dust of Enlightenment in Genshin Impact, while the last difficulty awards a unique weapon skin.
Genshin Impact: Stygian Onslaught Overview
For players who want to clear the Dire (VI) difficulty in the Stygian Onslaught, the undertaking requires serious investment in three very specific teams. As such, it is designed to cater to more than just the average player – even featuring a leaderboard system that resets daily. Players who clear the Dire (VI) difficulty can obtain Eminence, and those with the most Eminence can become one of the 16 Exalted Ones, with the leaderboard separated by server. While players can tackle any difficulty in the Stygian Onslaught in co-op mode, the rewards for Fearless (V) and Dire (VI) are restricted to single-player mode. The new endgame mode is located in Liyue in Genshin Impact.
Unlike the other two endgame modes, the Stygian Onslaught allows players to spend Resin in exchange for rewards from a Domain of Blessing – effectively giving players a new way to farm Artifacts in Genshin Impact. However, it should be noted that players will only be able to exchange Resin for rewards in the first 10 days of the challenge and will need to clear the Stygian Onslaught on at least the Hard (III) difficulty. It remains to be seen how the Stygian Onslaught will continue to evolve, but players should keep in mind that their feedback on the new game mode will be extremely valuable in the coming weeks.
