In every version, Genshin Impact introduces new enemies to the Spiral Abyss domain, including upgraded versions of the overworld bosses that players have met before. Aside from overworld bosses, the Spiral Abyss features local legends and other types of opponents.
Beating the Spiral Abyss domain is one of the free and most common ways to gain Primogems, which are used to purchase wishes and regenerate resin. Per season, Genshin Impact players receive more than 600 Primogems if they clear all stages within the mode. In addition, by clearing the Spiral Abyss, they get thousands of Mora that they can spend to level up characters.

A Genshin Impact leak from HomDGCat has revealed the Spiral Abyss lineup for the version 5.0 update, suggesting players will encounter Kairagi: Fiery Might, Pyroslinger Bracer, Nobushi: Jintouban, and more enemies on the 12th floor. The first stage of the 12th floor will set Travelers against Cryogunner Legionnaire, Eremite Scorching Loremaster, and Tainted Water-Spouting Phantasm. Moreover, it will feature Genshin Impact's Ruin Drake, an elite monster found in the Sumeru region.

The second stage of the 12th floor will feature Winged Cryoshroom, Grounded Geoshroom, Jadeplum Terroshroom, Black Serpent Knight: Windcutter, and Maguu Kenki, while the third stage will host Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain Lord. According to the leak, players must defeat Genshin Impact's world boss enemy, Perpetual Mechanical Array, to fully complete the Spiral Abyss domain.
Genshin Impact's Spiral Abyss mode is separated into 12 floors, each having three chambers that feature various enemies. Players must complete these chambers to reach the final floor, where they will encounter the hardest enemy. There are several rules in the Spiral Abyss, such as Travelers can't consume food or re-arrange their teams after they start a chamber. Luckily, each floor provides them with a buff, which is crucial to clearing the enemy lineup.
In version 5.0, Genshin Impact will introduce new characters, such as Kinich, Mualani, and Kachina, who will be the first units from the Natlan region. According to leaks, Mualani will debut in the first phase of version 5.0, while Kinich and Kachina will become playable in the second phase. The next update will reportedly give players 10 free pulls they can use on banners. Moreover, it will add many quality-of-life features, including a stealing mechanic for the Genius Invokation TCG and the ability to possess Natlan's dragons.
