Summary
- Skirk, a mysterious woman in Genshin Impact, is a skilled swordswoman who knows how to survive in the Abyss and trained Tartaglia.
- It is unclear if Skirk lives in the Abyss permanently or if she travels between the Abyss and the Human Realm.
- Skirk's appearance and her connection to the Abyss raise speculation about her role in the story and her involvement with Childe's recent experiences in Fontaine.
Genshin Impact's Skirk was first mentioned by Childe, 11th Fatui Harbinger, as his former trainer and a woman he met when he fell into the Abyss. However, very little was known about Skirk to him or anyone else, as he was never able to find her again. Despite being one of Genshin Impact's deadliest Harbingers with a vast networking system at his fingertips, Childe found no traces of her for years.
But now in Fontaine, fans can make their speculations and calls before this next Fontaine Archon Quest comes out and answers any questions. Not much has been said about this mysterious woman. Before her appearance, there were concerns she may just be a Herald NPC. Luckily, this isn't the case judging by appearances. From prior knowledge, Genshin fans know the following about Skirk:
- She's a swordswoman.
- She knows how to survive in the Abyss.
- She trained Tartaglia for 3 months, which was only 3 days in the Overworld.
- She taught Tartaglia how to use Foul Legacy.
Skirk's Relation to Genshin Impact's Abyssal Realm
The Abyss In General
When it comes to discussing Genshin Impact's Abyss, the knowledge is a little scattered. Fans know that it's ruled by the Abyss siblings, or at the very least that they are royalty to the Abyssal creatures (Abyss Mages, Abyss Heralds, etc.). It is a barely habitable place that is hard to explore. Even the Fatui had its struggles with exploration, sending Scaramouche, "The Balladeer", to carry out tasks there on his own--though the reason had never been stated. It is also commonly referred to as the Void Realm alongside the Human and Light Realms.
Skirk's Ties to the Abyss
Although it was stated that Childe had met her in the Abyss, it is not known if she lives there, visits often, or if she travels between that realm and the Human Realm. However, it can be inferred that if Childe was unable to find her after all these years, she's likely a permanent resident of the Abyss. This being said, the next unanswered question would be what she does there. After all, to spend so long in such a harsh environment like it's nothing, many may assume she can handle herself among the Genshin Impact Abyss Heralds and Lectors.
Skirk's First In-Game Appearance
Skirk's physical appearance has also caught players' eyes, as it seems as if she has small wings in the middle of her back. There are many known inhuman species in Teyvat that she could be a part of--or she could even be something brand new. Genshin Impact's Skirk also bears some similarity to other HoYoVerse characters Seele and Jingliu from Honkai: Star Rail, making players suspect she could be an expy.
Speculation of Skirk's Role in the Story
To suddenly appear in Fontaine, where Childe took time off to investigate a strange feeling he had there, is rather suspicious of Skirk. When Childe disappeared out of thin air from the Fortress of Meropide, it was strange before a quest explained how he managed to sneak out. But he'd snuck out into a dead end before being shown beneath the mighty Abyssal narwhal. Given that Skirk has her connections to the Abyss, it's not far-fetched to wonder if she drew one or both of them out.
Her line in the version trailer, "The prophecy that you have been fretting over should now be in full swing," rings confusion for fans too. It implies that Skirk had prior knowledge of the prophecy and had seen it all coming. Regardless, Genshin Impact fans will have to wait for the next update to get their answers about Skirk.
