Having a banner in Genshin Impact that has both Hu Tao and Neuvillette is nothing shorter than legendary. Both units are exceptional and can carry an entire team’s damage. Not only that, but even their weapon banner has both Staff of Homa and Tome of the Eternal Flow. Again, both weapons are amazing and have an insane amount of Crit DMG that can be useful to any unit that wields them.
However, with all that awesomeness surrounding the banners in Genshin Impact, this is sad news for players who can only afford one of the two units and can’t still decide which character to pull for. To simplify the matter, here’s a comparison between Neuvillette and Hu Tao.
Neuvillette Or Hu Tao In Genshin Impact?
It’s fun having to compare two DPS units considering both are exceptional damage dealers in Genshin Impact. In order to give both a fair comparison, it’s wise to analyze the difficulty of getting their best weapons, how different they are after completing their artifact sets, and if their roles suggest teaming them with F2P or P2W units.
Weapons
Both Neuvillette and Hu Tao depend on their HP and Crit value to deal damage and both of them gain Crit DMG from their level up Ascensions. The only difference here is that Neuvillette wields a Catalyst while Hu Tao is a Polearm user in Genshin Impact. When it comes to Catalysts, Tome of the Eternal Flow is Neuvillette’s best option, followed by Lost Prayer To The Sacred Winds and Jadefall's Splendor. As for 4-star choices, Sacrificial Jade tops the others with Ballad of the Boundless Blue in the runner-up position.
Without a doubt, Hu Tao’s best Polearm in Genshin Impact is her Staff of Homa. Staff Of The Scarlet Sands and Primordial Jade Winged-Spear are also viable options. On the other hand, a 4-star weapon like Dragon’s Bane performs insanely well with her kit, even better than most of her 5-star options.
In terms of weapons, Hu Tao has better flexibility compared to Neuvillette, especially since the Iudex is locked with only HP and doesn't benefit from ATK, unlike Hu Tao.
Artifacts
Building Neuvillette with 4-Marechaussee Hunter generates up to 36% Crit Rate for him since he can easily fulfill the set’s requirements. That's massive given how much Crit DMG players can stack on him. Not to mention the set already grants him 15% extra damage to his Charged attacks. Alternatively, using 4-Heart of Depth buffs Neuvillette’s Charged attack, and that always proves to be worthy.
As for Hu Tao, she reaches peak performance with 4-Crimson Witch of Flames in Genshin Impact. The set buffs her overall damage by increasing her Pyro and Pyro-related reaction damage.
In terms of building stat through Artifacts, Neuvillette is easier to build than Hu Tao since he can easily reach large Crit values with Marechaussee Hunter. He also has better Artifact alternatives compared to Director Hu.
Role
Neuvillette can stay on the field as long as he’s dropping Sourcewater Droplets and consuming them. If players learned how to manage his Droplets consumption, he could spend a really long time. So, Neuvillette can easily be considered a Main DPS. Of course, spending more time on the field doesn’t work without a real plan, and messing up the team rotation will surely have a negative impact.
On the other hand, Hu Tao’s time on the field is limited to her Elemental Skill’s duration, and she can only be useful again when her Skill finishes its Cooldown. For that, players are forced to go into a quick rotation to apply Elements and buffs before ending the rotation on Hu Tao again.
In terms of Role, both Hu Tao and Neuvillette are locked to the main DPS role. Both of them also have limited team comp where Hu Tao greatly relies on Xingqiu or Yelan, while Neuvillette demands constant Elemental Reactions with his team.
