According to a recent leak, Genshin Impact could be introducing a major change to its Archon Quest format, with the main storyline in Nod-Krai lasting for the full nine updates. With Natlan coming to a close in Version 5.8, Genshin Impact is slowly setting the stage for the next chapter of Teyvat. In many ways, Nod-Krai is a major departure from what players have come to expect in Genshin Impact. For the first time, a new region won't be tethered to an Archon or their nation, but will instead serve as a hub of many converging storylines.
As the autonomous southern province of Snezhnaya, Nod-Krai in Genshin Impact features several major factions operating within its borders. Chief among these are the Knights of Favonius, the Lightkeepers, the Fatui Harbingers, and, of course, the Hexenzirkel. When introducing Nod-Krai to the players in a behind-the-scenes video, HoYoverse emphasized the importance of wrapping up loose ends and suggested that the story would be longer than that of previous regions.
Genshin Impact Leaks Detailed List of Upcoming Nod-Krai Characters
A recent leak in the Genshin Impact community outlines the full release schedule, element, gender, and faction of upcoming characters from Nod-Krai.
According to Sukuna, this may end up being quite literal, as the leak claims that Nod-Krai's storyline will run for the full length of the region rather than wrapping up in Version 6.3. This kind of ambitious storytelling has already been attempted by HoYoverse with Amphoreus in Honkai: Star Rail. Given that Nod-Krai deals with eleven major factions, a pivot in the Archon Quest format may be necessary. Furthermore, with the lack of an Archon character in Nod-Krai, the leak claims that the developers will try to push Columbina in Genshin Impact as the star of the region.
Genshin Impact: Nod-Krai's Archon Quest Could Last a Year
Very little is known about Columbina. She is the third of the Fatui Harbingers in Genshin Impact, and both Tartaglia and Wanderer consider her a dangerous foe to have. Recent leaks claim that Columbina will become the new Moon Goddess over the course of Nod-Krai's storyline, implying that Dottore won't be the only Fatui Harbinger to feature in the new region. The leak claims that Columbina will have her own Story Quest in Nod-Krai, but that other characters will have their storylines folded into the main quest, not unlike what Inazuma did with Ayaka and Yoimiya.
While it's important to take leaks with a grain of salt, Sukuna also claims that the next Genshin Impact anniversary will have even more generous rewards than its predecessor. It remains unclear as to what this could mean, but players should at the very least be able to pick a free 5-Star from the Standard Banner once again. Song of the Welkin Moon is expected to start on September 10, but fans can expect to see a trailer for Nod-Krai near the end of Version 5.7.
