Ascension |
|||
Though players were introduced to Nilou in the first Sumeru patch, she didn't become playable until the following Genshin Impact's 3.1 patch. Released alongside fellow Hydro user Candace and Electro user Cyno, Nilou is a Hydro sword user and a five-star character.
Nilou is a skilled dancer, headlining the Sabzeruz Festival and playing an important role in Sumeru's Archon Quests. Players who want to use her in combat will do well to seek out the items and Mora listed in this guide, which are needed to ascend her and level up her talents.
Leveling Materials
Nilou is going to need as much EXP and Mora between each ascension level as any other character in the game. How much she needs is outlined in this table:

- Hydro Hypostasis
- Primo Geovishap*
- Aeonblight Drake
- Iniquitous Baptist
- Hydro Tulpa
- Childe (Enter the Golden House)
- Azhdaha (Beneath the Dragon Queller)*
- Dvalin (Confront Stormterror)
- Scaramouche (Joururi Workshop)
- All-Devouring Narwhal (Shadow of Another World)
*Both the Primo Geovishap and Azhdaha can only drop Varunada Lazurite when they are infused with Hydro.
For all sources of Varunada Lazurite, check this guide:
Enemy Drop - Where to Find Fungus Drops
The materials dropped by fungal enemies are used by Nilou in her ascension. Note that these items will be converted into the wrong ones if the enemy is hit with an Electro or Pyro attack, so be sure to avoid this if farming ascension materials for Nilou. The higher the level of the enemy, the better their drops can be:
- Any level: Fungal Spores
- Level 40+: Luminescent Pollen
- Level 60+: Crystalline Cyst Dust
Fungus monsters can be found in Sumeru, almost anywhere in the forested region. Some can also be found in the Chasm, though not in the same populations as Sumeru's rainforests. For a full list, click here.
Boss Drop - How to Get Perpetual Caliber
The Perpetual Caliber item is a unique boss material. It is dropped by the Aeonblight Drake, a boss that was released in 3.1 with Nilou herself. This boss is found in Sumeru, specifically in Devantaka Mountain.
Local Specialty - Where to Find Padisarahs
The Sumeru Archon Quest's first few chapters introduce the player to the Sabzeruz Festival and Nilou, who mentions that Padisarahs have not grown in their original color since the death of the Goddess of Flowers. These flowers are nonetheless still very pretty, and Nilou will use them in her ascension.
Padisarah flowers can be found around Sumeru City and The Palace of Alcazarzaray. One shopkeeper, Jut, also sells them. He charges 1,000 Mora per flower, stocking five at a time and restocking every three days. Jut's shop is set up in the Grand Bazaar in Sumeru City.
Nilou Talent Materials
Anyone who has seen the Sabzeruz Festival dance by Nilou knows that she is a very skilled woman. However, her combat skills are just as impressive once they're upgraded. To do that, the following things are needed:
