Summary
- Genshin Impact players anticipate Mavuika's arrival, only to be disappointed by the shared banner with Citlali.
- Fans question the revenue logic behind launching two characters simultaneously.
Genshin Impact players don't seem too happy with the schedule for some of the upcoming character releases. With the release of the Natlan region, Genshin Impact's playable roster continues to expand, with the five-star Anemo user Chasca and the four-star support Ororon being the most recent additions.
While all the Natlan updates so far have included new playable characters, many players are still eagerly awaiting the arrival of Mavuika, the famous Pyro Archon. Genshin Impact's main storyline is primarily explored through the Archon Chapters, which always feature one of Teyvat's leaders in the spotlight.
Genshin Impact Players Want This as a New Mavuika Skin
Genshin Impact players ask HoYoverse to add a new outfit for the upcoming Pyro Archon Mavuika who is scheduled to arrive in update 5.3.
So far, Genshin Impact has introduced six of the seven Archons, with Snezhnaya being the only region yet to have its Archon make an official in-game appearance. After months of anticipation, the recently held Special Program for Genshin Impact Version 5.3 finally confirmed that Mavuika will be featured in the upcoming update. However, the livestream also revealed that Mavuika will share a banner with another new five-star character, the Cryo user Citlali—a decision many fans found disappointing. Typically, when two new characters are introduced in the same update, their releases are staggered across the two banner cycles. This approach allows players to evaluate both characters thoroughly before deciding to spend their Primogems and offers additional time to collect resources for the second banner.
Genshin Impact 5.3: Why Are Mavuika and Citlali Being Released Simultaneously?
Some fans have noted that, from a revenue perspective, pairing Mavuika with another roster addition doesn't make sense, as she would draw significant attention on her own. One possible reason for this decision could be that the second part of the update seems reserved for the Lantern Rite Festival, which is arguably the largest annual event in Genshin Impact after the release of a new major region.
The Special Program revealed that players would receive numerous rewards during the event, including a free four-star character from Liyue. Additionally, Genshin Impact's new four-star character, Lan Yan, will be available for free during this limited event. Many fans argue that it doesn’t make sense for HoYoverse to offer free pulls in the second half of the update when Mavuika and Citlali are featured in the first banner cycle.
Previous rumors suggested that future updates might feature Limited Banners lasting the entire update duration, approximately 42 days. However, this scenario seems unlikely since most of HoYoverse’s titles follow similar banner schedules. Fans speculate that a more practical solution would be introducing three playable units per banner cycle, as the roster has grown so large that some five-star characters in Genshin Impact occasionally go over 500 days without a re-run.
