Ascension |
|||
Lyney, a Pyro bow user, was the first five-star character released from Fontaine, Genshin Impact's fifth region. A stage magician and natural performer, much of Lyney's kit revolves around magic tricks and classic circus imagery. He joins his sister, Lynette, in being not only the first characters to be playable from Fontaine, but as the representatives of Fontaine's preview back in 2020.
Those looking to ascend him and upgrade his talents will, of course, need to gather the right materials from around Teyvat. This will require some time spent in Fontaine, but some of his other items can be found elsewhere, too. Here's a complete guide to all the Lyney materials to bring him up to his full potential.
For all other characters, be sure to head over to our complete Genshin Impact character hub, and for all of our guides on Lyney, use the navigation table above this section.

Lyney Ascension Items
Lyney's a Pyro character, so Agnidus Agate gems will be central to his ascension. Along with the Agate, he'll also use Fatui Insignias, a drop from one of Fontaine's bosses, and a Fontaine local specialty, the Rainbow Rose.

Gemstones - Where to Find Agnidus Agate
Agnidus Agate is the gemstone used by all Pyro characters to ascend. It can be found in many ways, but its primary source is defeating bosses and trounce challenges that drop it, which include the following:
- Pyro Regisvine
- Pyro Hypostasis
- Primo Geovishap*
- Algorithm of Semi-Intransient Matrix of Overseer Network
- Iniquitous Baptist
- Emperor of Fire and Iron
- Legatus Golem
- Andrius (The Wolf of the North Challenge)
- Azhdaha (Beneath the Dragon Queller)*
- La Signora (Narukami Island: Tenshukaku)
- The Knave (Scattered Ruins)
*Azhdaha and the Primo Geovishap can only drop Agnidus Agate when they're aligned with Pyro.
Enemy Drop - Where to Find Fatui Insignias
Of the three characters introduced in Fontaine's first patch, Lyney,
Lynette, and
Freminet, Lyney is the only one who uses an enemy drop that can be found outside of Fontaine: Fatui Insignias. These special badges are dropped by various types of Fatui footsoldiers, including Skirmishers, Cicin Mages, and Pyro Agents — but not Mirror Maidens.
At higher levels, these enemies can drop better items:
- Any level: Recruit's Insignia
- Level 40 and up: Sergeant's Insignia
- Level 60 and up: Lieutenant's Insignia
Boss Drop - How to Get Emperor's Resolution
One might not assume that a large monstrous crab is the source of a circus magician's ascension material, but that's how it is this time. Lyney's ascension material, called
Emperor's Resolution, is dropped by the Emperor of Fire and Iron world boss, found in Fontaine. It can be found near Poisson!
Local Specialty - Rainbow Rose Locations
The local specialty used in Lyney's ascension is the
Rainbow Rose. This colorful flower is, of course, only found in Fontaine. It's usually located in artificial gardens, rather than in the wild. Click here for a guide to all the Rainbow Rose locations!
Lyney Talent Materials
Lyney's a talented man, and like every Genshin Impact character, he has three talents that can be upgraded. Here's what's needed for each of them, plus totals for all three:

Talent Books - Equity
The special talent book series Lyney uses for his talents is the Equity series. These books are obtained by clearing the Pale Forgotten Glory domain on Monday, Thursday, or Sunday.
Trounce Materials - Primordial Greenbloom
For Lyney's required trounce mat, players will need to venture back to Sumeru, specifically to the Realm of Beginnings domain. By clearing this domain and paying the
Original Resin cost, there is a chance to obtain the Primordial Greenbloom, which is the material he uses.
This domain is only accessible upon clearing the required steps of Nahida's second Story Quest, Sapientia Oromasdis Chapter: Act II - Homecoming.
Genshin Impact is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices, with a Nintendo Switch version in development.
