According to the latest beta build, Genshin Impact is expanding the Nightsoul Trials in Version 5.2 with four new challenging enemies for players to face. While most of the open world in Genshin Impact can be conquered by a wide variety of teams, the Local Legends are an exception by any measure. Despite the existence of the Spiral Abyss and the Imaginarium Theater, an argument could be made that Local Legends represent the biggest challenge in Genshin Impact, especially with the way they evolved in Natlan.
Unlike Fontaine in Genshin Impact, Natlan features Nightsoul Trials on top of the roaming Local Legends found in the overworld. Nightsoul Trials take the player to a secluded arena by interacting with Nightsoul Totems found in Natlan. These arenas feature unique combat rules that players need to overcome as they battle the Local Legend. Though the current number of Nightsoul Trials in Genshin Impact is six, Version 5.2 aims to add four more to the mix.
As datamined by HomDGCat, Genshin Impact will add four new Nightsoul Trials in Version 5.2. Players will be able to find Potapo's Solidarity, Tupayo's Aid, Spirit of the Fallen Dawnstar, and Ironbeard in the upcoming Natlan zone by interacting with the corresponding Nightsoul Totem. Conquering all four Nightsoul Trials, as well as three new Local Legends in the overworld, will award players with a new Duelist namecard in Genshin Impact. While the Nightsoul Trials are tough by design, having certain Genshin Impact characters can give players a notable advantage.
Genshin Impact Nightsoul Challenges in Version 5.2
Potapo's Solidarity
- The Wayob will manifest into Protection Spirits and Hostile Spirits.
- When a character is healed, the Protection Spirits will also heal. When they accumulate enough healing, they will attack the Hostile Spirit.
Tupayo's Aid
- The Wayob will invoke the Heavenly Flames on the entire arena. Avoid them by flying into the air via the Gaseous Phlogiston fields. You can also interrupt the invocation by swooping on the Wayob using Gaseous Phlogiston.
Spirit of the Fallen Dawnstar
- Characters close to the sacrificial braziers deal additional Pyro DMG with their Charged Attacks.
- The Iktomisaurus will float in the air and gain an Ice Shield, freeze the sacrificial braziers, and unleash powerful attacks.
- Unfreeze the sacrificial braziers with Pyro, or use characters from the Masters of the Night-Wind to create new sacrificial braziers.
Ironbeard
- The enemy will create Molten Barbs, which explode after a while, dealing massive DMG.
- Use Geo attacks or Plunge Attacks to destroy the Molten Barbs before they explode. Destroying them with Plunge Attacks will cause the enemy to take additional DMG.
Among the four Nightsoul Trials added by Version 5.2, Potapo's Solidarity appears to be the most interesting one. Whereas the other three fights are straightforward, Potapo's Solidarity will allow healers such as Kokomi or Xianyun to shine. On the other hand, Spirit of the Fallen Dawnstar was likely designed for characters such as Yoimiya or Lyney, with the latter expected to appear on the Event Banners for Version 5.2 of Genshin Impact.
When it comes to challenging Ironbeard, a Navia team that focuses on Plunge Attacks would likely be the key to victory, while having a character such as Chasca likely makes Tupayo's Aid significantly easier. Though the Nightsoul Trials can sometimes hint at the ability kit of future characters, the only credible rumor circulating about Citlali in Genshin Impact is that she will be a Cryo Shield Support. Version 5.2 is set to launch on November 20, 2024.
