Summary
- Genshin Impact community predicts Natlan expansion locations in Version 5.1 and 5.2, with new zones and gameplay challenges.
- Sumeru in Version 3.0 set the standard for open-world quality, Fontaine added underwater exploration variety in a smaller region.
- Version 5.0 introduces Natlan with the Saurian Tribes and mounts, future updates hint at Mondstadt expansion possibilities.
The Genshin Impact community seems to have figured out the locations for the upcoming Natlan expansions in Version 5.1 and Version 5.2, as well as a general idea of what the new zones will entail. While Teyvat always had potential, it could be argued the open world in Genshin Impact had truly come into its own with the launch of Sumeru in Version 3.0. The rainforest came with an elaborate network of caves, treasure puzzles, and a bigger variety of enemies to challenge the Traveler.
Fontaine continued the formula by adding underwater exploration to Genshin Impact, which kept the new region wide and varied in gameplay. Though it did not rival Sumeru in sheer size, it did provide the same level of quality. Natlan is scheduled to make its debut in Version 5.0, and the first three Saurian Tribes will be at the forefront of the initial zone. This update will also mark the introduction of mounts to Genshin Impact, which will be pivotal in exploring the colorful wilderness of Natlan.

A new Genshin Impact chart estimates how many Primogems free-to-play players will obtain in the version 5.0 update next month.
Thanks to an anonymous (but verified) source, a preliminary render and breakdown of the map expansions for Version 5.1 and Version 5.2 were posted on the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit. The map outlines the territories of both the six Saurian Tribes, and the ruins of old Natlan to the north. While traveling to Natlan in Genshin Impact will be done via the Desert of Hadramaveth, the narrow gap that connects the two regions will remain unchanged. Version 5.1 will primarily take place in Southwest Natlan, where the Masters of the Night-Wind reside, while Version 5.2 will allow players to visit the Collective of Plenty, the Electro Tribe of Natlan.
The Six Saurian Tribes of Natlan in Genshin Impact
- Children of Echoes – Geo Tribe (Version 5.0)
- Scions of the Canopy – Dendro Tribe (Version 5.0)
- People of the Springs – Hydro Tribe (Version 5.0)
- Masters of the Night-Wind – Anemo Tribe (Version 5.1)
- Collective of Plenty – Electro Tribe (Version 5.2)
- Flower-Feather Clan – Pyro Tribe (Version 5.2)
It should be noted that there is no Cryo Saurian Tribe in Natlan, and that Cryo characters such as Citlali and Chasca belong to other tribes. While each Saurian Tribe has their own settlement that players can explore, the main hub for Natlan is the Stadium of the Sacred Flame. The upcoming zones for Version 5.4 and beyond are currently unknown, but many speculate that a Mondstadt map expansion is the most likely option.
The location in Version 5.1 will largely center around a volcano, and the reason for Paimon and the Traveler visiting the area will be teased during the Natlan Archon Quests. In addition to the new zone, Version 5.1 will also bring Xilonen to Genshin Impact, a promising 5-Star Geo Support that players already compare with the likes of Kazuha. Players can expect to see the first of the leaked map expansions on October 11, 2024.
