A new Genshin Impact leak shows how well the upcoming character Wriothesley performs when put in a certain type of team composition. Wriothesley has been officially announced by the game's social media accounts and he is expected to be placed on one of the two Limited Character Banners of update 4.1.
He won't be the only new character to arrive as Genshin Impact confirmed that one of the most powerful Fontaine characters, Neuvillette, will also join the playable roster in the same update. Considering that they are both expected to be five-star characters means that their releases will be spread over the two banner cycles.
While HoYoverse did not confirm Wriothesley's rarity, they have revealed that he will be the first Cryo catalyst user in Genshin Impact which caused a lot of hype in the community. This means that he will be able to apply the Cryo element with his Normal Attacks which is perfect for certain elemental reactions like Melt of Frozen. A new post on the Genshin Impact Leaks video shows Wriothesley's power when placed in a team composition that relies on triggering the elemental reaction Melt. This reaction can be caused by applying Pyro damage to an enemy affected by Cryo and vice-versa.
The video shows Wriothesley surrounded by two Pyro supports, Bennett and Xiangling, and a Cryo user named Shenhe. Bennett and Xiangling have become the standard duo for most team compositions that need Pyro supports, even though they are four-star characters. While Xiangling exceeds at Pyro application, Bennett is by far the best Pyro healer in the game at the moment. Shenhe is the go-to support for a Cryo DPS which is why players almost always pair her with Kamisato Ayaka who is arguably the strongest DPS in the game that uses this element.
It should be noted that the footage was taken from a private server which means that the damage numbers might not be completely accurate. However, the video shows that Wriothesley has great potential in this type of Genshin Impact team composition and all players have to do is drop all of their supporting skills before entering the DPS rotation with this upcoming Cryo user.
When it comes to his playstyle, even though the catalyst is usually perceived as a ranged weapon used by mages, Wriothesley seems to prefer close combat just like the previously released Anemo user Shikanoin Heizou. When it comes to his exact release date, players will have to wait for the Genshin Impact version 4.1 livestream event to get more information.
Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
