Thanks to a recent Genshin Impact leak, players can finally have a first look at how Varesa, the upcoming 5-Star Electro Catalyst, looks like. While Version 5.5 is set to introduce a new Natlan area to Genshin Impact, the upcoming update will also see the debut of Varesa and Iansan. With both characters hailing from the Collective of Plenty, there have been quite a few comparisons made between Iansan and Varesa, with the latter having caught some controversy for being a 5-Star over Iansan.
However, the ability kits for both Genshin Impact characters shifted the discussion towards a more positive light, as not only is Iansan shaping up to be one of the best Support characters to come out of Natlan, but Varesa is also bringing something unique to the table with a multi-layered rotation and a rapid-use Elemental Burst. Whereas Iansan played a major role in Natlan's Archon Quest, and was teased by Genshin Impact since September 2020, players had no inkling of what Varesa was supposed to look like until her silhouette was teased during the developer livestream for Version 5.3.
Genshin Impact Leak Reveals Great Volcano of Tollan Map
Thanks to a leaked map, Genshin Impact players can get a sneak peek at the Great Volcano of Tollan and the Collective of Plenty from Version 5.5.
This is no longer the case, as Mero shared Varesa's in-game model with the Genshin Impact community ahead of the testing phase for Version 5.5. While Varesa in Genshin Impact uses the Medium Female template, her current model seems to have undergone some heavy modifications. Compared to other Medium Female characters, Varesa has a lot more width to her proportions, which is rather fitting when taking her gameplay into account, that of a charging bull. Her color scheme is a mix of pink, teal, and black, and she has the signature "detached sleeves" outfit that HoYoverse is fond of doing.
Genshin Impact Leak Reveals Varesa's Appearance
Varesa will no doubt play a big role in Version 5.5, as she will be the central character for the Collective of Plenty's Tribal Chronicles. However, there is a high likelihood that supporting roles will be given to Iansan and Ifa, with the latter currently having a placeholder model for the duration of the beta. One notable positive about Varesa's model is that she potentially paves the way for HoYoverse to design more atypical builds for its characters, such as that of Pulcinella – the notably stocky Fatui Harbinger from Genshin Impact.
The upcoming Natlan map expansion for Genshin Impact is expected to be bigger than Version 5.2, as it will have a separate map for the overworld, as well as an instanced area of similar scope. While Varesa's storyline will likely be confined to the northern part of Tollan, the new zone certainly has a lot of storytelling potential. Version 5.5 is set to launch on March 26, 2025.
