Due to the abundance of banners, Travelers needed more custom party slots to try as many compositions as possible.
It's safe to say that 2023 was a fruitful year for Genshin Impact, as the game expanded the roster of characters, introduced a brand-new region, and brought a plethora of changes based on player feedback. Aside from time-saving gameplay updates, the gacha-based RPG added Fontaine, where players experienced underwater mechanics for the first time. This dreamlike region marked the debut of a new story that revolved around the Hydro Archon Furina and hosted formidable bosses like The Devouring Narwhal and Ice Wind Suite.

A Genshin Impact leak from Kuroo suggested that version 4.4 will add a long-requested feature, which allows players to create up to 15 custom teams. In August 2022, HoYoverse increased that number from four to 10, but it looks like Travelers wanted more slots after the introduction of new characters. If the leak is accurate, they will be able to hire 60 units and try unique compositions to finish any type of content.
Fellow Genshin Impact players on Reddit think it would be a welcome addition to the game, with one asking the developers to add the ability to toggle between custom squads without having to open the menu. Some also wanted a randomizer that fills their team with random characters.
Configurable party slots allow players to test compositions quickly and combine different types of characters, who can create elemental reactions to deal more damage. Since summer 2022, Travelers were able to set up four teams, which wasn't enough considering Genshin Impact's extensive roster of banners. Once update 4.4 is released, they will allegedly have five more slots to make active squads.
