A recent Genshin Impact leak may have finally revealed Dainsleif's Element, as the former Knight Captain of Khaenri'ah seems to assist the Traveler in combat during the events of Version 5.7. It's no exaggeration to say that Dainsleif is one of the most anticipated characters of Genshin Impact. Dainsleif has been present in the game's files since the closed beta, and he has helped the Traveler on their journey to reconnect with their lost sibling. All signs point towards Dainsleif having a major role to play in the overarching story, especially as players become directly involved in the fight against the Abyss Order.

The next stage of Dainsleif's storyline is expected to take place in Natlan during Version 5.7. While the exact details of this Archon Quest are unknown, datamining has revealed that HoYoverse is making a few notable changes to Dainsleif. For example, Dainsleif will have a party member icon added in Version 5.7, and some parts of his character model have gone through a visual update. It's fair to say that Dainsleif in Genshin Impact is being prepared for a more active role in his quests, but it may also hint at his playable status, too.

Genshin Impact Leak Reveals New Reward for Weekly Bosses

New Genshin Impact leaks are hinting at a major special reward coming to the RPG's weekly bosses as part of an upcoming update.

Dainsleif was confirmed as a playable character by HoYoverse during the game's launch in September 2020, but his Element has since been depicted as an indecipherable sequence of symbols. Firefly Leaks shared footage of new combat animations for Dainsleif, showcasing the Bough Keeper emerging from a shroud of blue fire, before smashing the ground with a similar sort of magic. Considering what players now know about the Abyss and its ability to mimic creation, it's quite possible that Dainsleif will be a Pyro character in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact: The Case for Dainsleif Being Pyro

Based on what is known about Skirk in Genshin Impact, it's fair to assume that Dainsleif is similarly capable of wielding the Abyss to mimic an element of Teyvat. This connection between Abyssal and Elemental power was already established by the Iniquitous Baptist in Version 3.6, which could certainly explain why Dainsleif is able to use Pyro abilities in combat. That being said, many Genshin Impact players were hoping that he would introduce a new Element to the game, and as such, Dainsleif being Pyro could be seen as a rather disappointing outcome.

Given how much of a headache it was for the developers to introduce Dendro to Genshin Impact in Version 3.0, it's possible that HoYoverse has decided against adding a new Element in the future. After all, Skirk would have been an ideal candidate to introduce it – before drip marketing confirmed her as Cryo. Ultimately, it may be a while until Dainsleif becomes playable. If HoYoverse ends up adhering to the Travail teaser, while accounting for the detour to Nod-Krai, Genshin Impact players can expect to have the Bough Keeper on their team in no less than two years. Version 5.7 is set to launch on June 18, 2025.
